ASIMCO case questions: 1. Kindly write a brief synopsis of the case in your own words.

ASIMCO is a company developed by Jack Perkowski, an American Business executive. This company became one of the largest component manufacturing organizations serving in Chinese Vehicle industry. I was established in 2002 with 15 manufacturing operations in 10 provinces and 36 sales offices.

Company faced number of obstacles during its development. I was faced with shortage of management in China. It worked out on the shortcomings and and tried bridging the gap.

I worked on developing management in Chinese market condition. The management development in china was worked out in three phases; firstly Restructuring, Second growing talent from within and lastly, developing talent from within.

Leearnings The companys management represented one of the principle advantage of the group. Its leadership developed add loyalty. Though there were some issues with localization of organization but overall ASIMCOs future success, seemed contingent on continued motivation and rertention of human capital.

2. What are the IHRM issues that ASIMCO is facing? Following are the IHRM issues: y y y y y Understanding of a foreign Markets Competitors analysis Manpower Training and development and related issues Political Scenario International Cultural management issues

3. Can the ASIMCO model be adopted by all MNC companies? Kindly support your answer with reasons. ASIMCO had a pretty good model. We can say it was well thought of and equally well executed. But it was tailor made for the Chinese business environment. As we saw that even ASIMCO struggled in the beginning, it is hard to say if it could successfully be adopted in other markets as well. Everyone knows doing business in Chinese market is a different ball game altogether. What works in the entire world doesnt work in China and what works in China does not necessarily work

for rest of the world. So I doubt if the same model could be adopted in other MNC as well. I think the model was such that it suited the culture and beliefs of the ASIMCO and it very well integrated with the Chinese economy. Also, company could adapt to the countrys environment. But I dont think it would be feasible to take in same model for all similar organizations in the market. Every organization is unique and different in itself and they should be formulating their own strategies. So, in my opinion its big no-no for the same model.
