1. Used Tools
To completely disassemble the ETEN M800 smartphone youll need at least the following tools: Torx screwdriver T5x40 Small cross-head screwdriver Small electronic tweezer Small plastic shim

2. Precaution
While disassembling the unit you should consider some general guidelines to prevent electrostatic discharge. Apart from that it should be obvious, that several parts of the unit maybe easily damaged during the disassembly process. So please take care of the tiny screws and sensitive parts of the case.

3. Disassembly
3.1. Back cover disassembly
Power down the unit, release the battery cover and take off the battery.

To release the upper plastic cover, please press firmly and try to lift the cover at lower left position. You may also use the plastic shim to remove this part with caution. Now use the Torx T5 screwdriver and remove 4 screws from the main unit. Please be aware: At this point you will loose warranty !!!

Open the main case

Now we are ready to open the main case. Apart from the 4 screws, there are also some plastic clips that keep everything in place. Be careful while open the main case, because the slight clips might easily break apart.

The picture below shows three of the plastic clips, that additionally fix the case.

3.3.

Take off the mainboard

After releasing the complete back cover, its time to take the mainboard out of its case. Again some care should be taken at this step. Lift the mainboard at the position of the battery connector and point out the display connector underneath. Use the plastic shim to release the display connector from the mainboard carefully. Afterwards the mainboard could be taken out. Its a bit tricky though, because the headphone connector prevents an ease remove.

Bottom of the mainboard

Now we got the bare mainboard. You may do a little discovery tour at this step and you will notice the display connector at the bottom of the PCB.

The pink film is the backlight foil and covers the smooth switches of the keyboard.

Dismount slider

After the mainboard has been taken out, theres a free view on the keypad. To dismount the slider mechanism from the main body, use a crosshead screwdriver and release the 4 screws.

Remove slider mechanic

To remove the slider mechanic from the display, 4 screws will have to be released. Start with the lower screws and use the Torx T5 to release. Afterwards flip the mechanism to the bottom.

Now remove the upper two screws. Use the Torx T5 again.

Display unit disassembly

Open up the display unit maybe the hardest part of the disassembly, because there are some plastic clips that fix the unit very tight. So please be very careful during these steps, otherwise you may break something.

The picture below shows two of the plastic clips, that keep the unit together.

3.8.

Open display unit

This is a view of the display unit already opened. All in all there are 8 plastic clips to fix the display unit very tight.

To completely remove the display some additional steps are necessary. All electronic parts off the display unit are contacted with a flexible printed board and partly glued with some double-faced tape. These parts are very sensitive. Please keep this in mind!

3.9.

Remove the display

The remove the display two Torx T5 screws have to be released at the circuit board on the left. The flexible printed board is partly glued and has to be released very carefully. The display cable connector is cover with black tape. Lift the brown part of the connector to release the contact.
