DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING SEVENTH SEMESTER SEMINAR REPORT

1.

PRESENTATION

1.1 Precision and Consistency Avoid unwarranted repetitions and irrelevant material Brief and precise to the point Self consistent in use of symbols, abbreviations, spellings and punctuations. Once chosen, same must be used throughout. 1.2 Chapters Report shall be presented in form of chapters, each carrying an appropriate and specific title which must convey scope of its content. 1.3 Introduction The first chapter shall be titled as Introduction which will define scope and objectives of seminar and also describe the contents of the report preferably chapter- wise. 1.4 Last Chapter Be devoted to conclusions and to highlight the specific contributions made in relevant field, future directions and also the summary of Seminar.

SEQUENCE
2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 PAGE 1 FACING SHEET as per Annexure A( Title sheet). PAGE 2 CERTIFICATE as per Annexure B PAGE 3 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT PAGE 4 ABSTRACT The abstract should occupy maximum one page in A-4 size typed one and half space. The bottom line should contain keywords which could be used for documentation.

2.5 PAGE 5 CONTENTS 2.6 List of Figures and Tables: This follows the list of Contents. The numbering system given in (3.6) should be followed for numbering tables and figures Eg: Fig 1.1, Fig1.2 Table 1.1, Table 1.2

2.7 Nomenclature includes list of abbreviations, symbols and follows the List of Figures and Tables 2.8 Chapters: The chapters will be serially numbered using Decimal Classification format .The chapter-1 Introduction shall follow the previous item .Chapter-2 and subsequent chapters will follow in the usual sequence. 2.9 References: References shall follow the last chapter .Each reference should be cited within square bracket. Journal references Eg: Ram P C ,Rakher A.b and Kuldip .C(2005)Analysis and design of algorithms, J.Struct.Eng,13018),1272-1279. Name of Authors (year) Title publication, Issue and volume, page numbers. Books Name of authors (year) Book title chapter title, publisher, and publishers locations, Page numbers. Web pages Author (copyright year) title of page, web address (Date on which the material was downloaded).

3. TECHNICAL
3.1 Paper: The Seminar Report (original +copies) should preferably be printed in A4 size 3.2 Typing : The typing shall be in standard letter size ie, font size 12 of Times New Roman font, 1.5 spaced on one side of the paper only .The number and title of a section in block capitals will be placed on the left. The number and title of a sub-section will not be in capital and placed on the left. 3.3 Margins : Each typed sheet will bear the margin left 1.5 top 1.5 right 1 and bottom 1. 3.4 Binding: While submitting, the report will be bound through soft binding with blue cover and black font . One soft binded copy(student copy) must be submitted for valuation. 3.5 Title Sheet: To be prepared as follows i) Title of the seminar report in 22 font size, Times New Roman font properly centered at top. ii) Full name of the candidate, name of the department, Institute name in separate lines in 16 font Size, Times New Roman font. 3.6 Numbering System. Chapters will be designated by chapter 1, chapter 2 etc sections and subsections of chapter will be numbered using decimal classification format (Appendix C) Eg 2.1, 2.2, 2.1.1, 2.1.2.etc The same may be used for numbering tables and figures

Eg: Fig 1.1, Fig1.2 Table 1.1, Table 1.2 3.7 Pages The pages of the chapters and references will be designated by one set of numerical (1, 2, 3).. Page no.s must be on top right hand side of every page. The pages carrying the Title sheet ,Certificate , Acknowledgement , Abstract will not be numbered. One set of small Roman numerical (i,ii,iii..) will be used for numbering Contents , List of Figures and Tables, Nomenclature pages. These will be typed at bottom centre of each page. The header indicating the Seminar Title should be placed on top left hand side of each page in Italic Capital Letters(letter size 10pt). The header and the page number should be on the same line. The footer indicating the college name (COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING KALLOOPPARA) should be placed on the bottom left hand side of every page in Italic capital Letters (letter size 10pt). A separate line should be drawn below the header and above the footer. The total no of pages should not be less than 30 and more than 60 ANNEXURE C The decimal classification format is given below 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1< First Sub heading of 1 > 1.1.1 < First Sub heading of 1.1> 1.1.2 < Second Sub heading of 1.1> 1.2 < Second Sub heading of 1> 1.2.1 < First Sub heading of 1.2> 1.2.2 < Second Sub heading of 1.2> 2. REQUIREMENT ANALYSIS 2.1< First Sub heading of 2 > 2.1.1 < First Sub heading of 2.1> 2.1.2 < Second Sub heading of 2.1> 2.2 < Second Sub heading of 2> 2.2.1 < First Sub heading of 2.2> 2.2.2 < Second Sub heading of 2.2>

and so on .
