The Healing Power of the Drum Workshop Outline

This full day workshop will run from 9:00am to 4:30pm with morning, lunch and afternoon breaks. For registered participants, we shall email to you relevant details including directions to the venue nearer to the event date. Please note that meals are not included in the workshop registration fee.

Seminar Objectives Use rhythm-based exercises to improve communication, listening skills and intimacy of various populations; Examine specific populations in regard to effects of rhythm-based therapy; Provide tools and techniques for releasing anger and stress; Explore non-verbal and verbal rhythmic exercises for boosting self-esteem; Use Rhythmic Entrainment as a vehicle to both relax and energize; Use Guided Visualization as a method to deepen the state of relaxation. About your workshop leader: Robert Lawrence Friedman provides workshops and seminars focusing on leadership development, teambuilding and stress management through throughout the United States and Europe. He has offered his presentations to such corporations and hospitals as Accenture Corporation, American Express, Chase Manhattan Bank, Cornell Medical Center, Comedy Central, First Boston Corporation, Forbes, HBO, Hyatt Hotels, Inc., Hoffman-LaRoche, Pitney Bowes, Schering Plough Corporation, Saatchi & Saatchi, Saint Barnabas Health Care System, Standard & Poors, Viacom and Xerox Corporation, among many others. Mr. Friedman is a practicing psychotherapist of fifteen years and has been offering his stress management program "Journey Into Relaxation" throughout New Jersey, USA. He has appeared on national and international television programs, including the Discovery Health Channel program, Class of 75. He has also appeared on The Morning Show on Today (NBC), Fox News, and The Alive and Wellness Show (CNBC), along with Fuji and Sankei television in Japan. Robert was the columnist for the Healing Rhythms column in Drum! Magazine and is currently the Stresswise columnist in Healthwise Magazine. He is on the Advisory Board of the Drum Circle Facilitators Guild, and Chairman of the Drumming and Wellness Committee for the Percussive Arts Society. Mr. Friedman is the author of The Healing Power of the Drum -- A Psychotherapist Explores the Healing Power of Rhythm. This groundbreaking book explores the extraordinary power of rhythm to facilitate health in areas including stress and anger management, Alzheimer's disease, autism, Parkinson's disease, Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome and others. He is also the author of How to Relax in 60 Seconds or Less which teaches strategies and tools for relaxing quickly no matter what is happening and his most recent book, The Healing Power of the Drum II A Journey of Rhythm and Stories. Mr. Friedman is the Director of the Stress Management Corporate Training certification program for Queens College of CUNY, the first program of its kind in the United States He has designed a cutting-edge software programs, Relaxation On-Demand and Confidence On-Demand for individuals seeking immediate relief in areas of stress and empowerment.
