Internet traffic and media manipulation I have websites on various servers: MSU, Examiner, NowPublic, and YouTube.

I don't measure/record traffic on my MSU sites out of respect for their add-free hosting. You cannot post vulgarity, pornography, or copy-infringing content, as you cannot most places, but I have no desire to do so nor idiotically jeopardize my relationship with MSU. There's a 'sacred trust' between MSU and I .. Most people are unaware that most universities refuse to be manipulated by monopolies such as Microsoft. If you're independent minded, you should be proud most universities are running Linux on their PCs. This is a under-appreciated fact .. Relatedly, we need to support our public universities as generously as we can in order to further this kind of attitude and behavior. If you're a hacker or have a 'hacker mentality' (like challenging computer/internet problems), you should think about helping universities beef-up their server security instead of flirting with ideas like attacking their servers as some kind of petty vendetta or desire to prove yourself to your peers. Save the server hacking for monopolies of money and power .. I think it's safe to say there are five major players on the internet today: Microsoft, US Secret Service, NSA, CIA, and Google. If you have any dealings with Microsoft or Google, chances are your activities/transactions are monitored by (at least) one of the rest. Now my statement above was not encouraging hackers to attack any branch of the US government. Perhaps the best and brightest hackers should apply for jobs in (or be actively recruited by) those branches. I believe there is some motion in that direction but.. Finances/economy the way things are makes hiring even the best minds difficult nowadays. Paranoid conspiracies aside, I still firmly believe our present situation was manipulated by banks/investors to strike mortal fear in the hearts and minds of middle-class America. The purpose of this fear-generation is of course control. The media is tailored to force you to pay attention to issues 'they' want (not issues we should be paying attention to). For instance, our government is desperate, patently desperate, to get our attention away from the core issue of our time: military spending/waste. They will promote any kind of story: human interest, sympathy,.. especially if it involves justifying military/police expenditures. (The term police is loosely used to mean any form of policing.) So the core issue of our time slides from the obvious military waste to a deeper issue about control. The real question becomes: will we allow ourselves to be manipulated away from democracy? The benevolent hacker (like me) is the ultimate democrat. We don't want power over other people; we want freedom for all. (Not freedom to hurt and abuse/exploit but freedom to think and say what you believe; live how you want to live as long as you don't try to dominate others about it.) This is the core of true freedom/liberty. So.. If government/other monopoly constrains my websites, I complain: here. I get 'significant' (relative) visibility on NowPublic.. Not every visitor actually reads my articles but.. At least there are some unique visitors each day.. Considering my messages and authenticity, you would expect more but.. That's life ain't it? Or is it? Consider for a moment my traffic on YouTube: almost nothing compared to TheAmazingAtheist (a paid creator-of-content there). It's understandable: he's a genuine entertainer-turned-outspoken-activist who cleverly capitalized on his entertainment following turning it into grass-roots activism. I admire him greatly and sincerely. Some of the things he proclaims I proposed 'way back' in high school (like staging a new Constitutional convention overhauling or rewriting our US Constitution). We desperately need to.

My points in this article are several: 1. We need to constantly be aware of monopolies controlling our attention away from their control! 2. We need to have a Constitutional Convention rewriting/overhauling our US Constitution. 3. We need to base this new Constitution on pure democracy as technology will allow. 4. Don't let their media/internet control guide you away from this eventuality! The natural evolution in our world society is: acceptance, respect, equality, and transparency. These are extremely powerful concepts that cannot be overstated! 1. acceptance means we learn about each others values, understand them, and.. 2. respect them! 3. equally! 4. and all of our interactions are transparent (clear to everyone involved!) First you must care to attend to what I'm saying in order to understand me. This is the first interaction. It's bidirectional. Then you must actually actively listen to what I'm saying; that's also bidirectional. Then we switch roles and you educate me! :) Underlying all these principles of respectful interactions is one important fact: if we insist on pushing our ideology onto the rest of humanity (such as with radical Islam), this is a guaranteed recipe for total absolute catastrophic failure = end of the human race. Don't go there! In other words, democratic individuals like me insist on two things: 1. you don't try to control me the way you likely don't want to be controlled (golden rule) 2. you treat me with a modicum of respect (detailed above) you likely would expect yourself Again, the positive side of the golden rule rears its 'ugly head' ;) When will we ever learn.. When will we ever learn.. sam iam, 2012/JAN/28 PS: Again, I forgot the motivation of this article: two of my best articles on NowPublic and YouTube are essentially ignored.. If that does not smack of internet-traffic control, what does?
