They should be able to notice a minor change in the patients health status. A good nurse should be emotionally stable as nursing is a very successful job. Everyday, nurses witness severe traumatic situations, surgeries and deaths. They should be mentally strong and should not get disturbed by such incidences. Presence of mind is crucial in the nursing profession. In critical conditions or medical emergencies, if the doctor is not present, the nurse should be confident enough to take the correct decisions. Kindness and empathy are qualities that every nurse should possess. They should be calm and kind to patients, even if they are

aggressive. They should understand the pain and suffering of the patients. They should provide comfort and sympathy to the patients, instead of getting angry with them. They should be flexible about their working hours and responsibilities. Nusing is a timedemanding proffesion as medical emergencies can occur at any time. Nurses often have to extend their duty hours, work in overnight shift, or work on weekends too. A good nurse should have a good level of physical endurance. They should be able to stand up for a long period of time or lift heavy objects/people on a daily basis. A nurse should have respect for people and rules. They should be devoted to their profession. They should be aware of different cultures and tradions. Confidentiality is one of the most basic requirements of a patients. They should respect this. They should be active and cheerful. The same good qualities needed in nursing are shown by most people in their everyday life. They should possess the courage to always do the right thing. Empathy for others is necessary and will stand you in good stead when dealing with the many people. Some of the other good qualities needed in nursing include the ability to listen and to be able to accept any and all people no matter who they are or what they have done, and to be able to put their welfare above all else. They must be patience and offer kindness even

when their patience is strecthed very thin. Dedication, dependability and the ability t change and grow are all fine qualities needed in nurses, regardless of what area of nursing they may involved in. The other duty of the nurse is in carrying out the doctors order. The doctor is responsible for the treatment of the case, and the patient and family are responsible for the choice of the doctor. The nurse, who thinks he or she know better than the doctor, is a very dangerous and unsuitable person to have.

What are the qualities that make a good nurse? They are kindness, good common sense, carefulness, quietness, neatness, handiness, cheerfulnes. A kind nurse must be, or mere profesional skill and obligation will fail to affect all that is needed for the best welfare of a patient. Sympahty is worth much to sufferer. Patients is often called for attendance or attention. Common sense, that is intelligence such as most people, not particularly deficient, possess will enable anyone to learn what is necessary in nursing, and to do it respectably. Carefulness is indispensable. Neatness is a very similar quality to quietness. Nothing should be allowed to be slovenly, muc less dirty around a sick person. Handiness is an excellent quality in doing all sorts of things. Cheerfulness is an excelent attribute in the sick-room. It is as pleasant as sunshine, and wholesome like it, without any of its glare. A long face or a whining voice should never enter where there is suffering enough alredy. Let everyone endeavor to make the best of all things, and the most of hope. When there is doubt, leaning toward the brighter side is well; as the proverb says, while there is life there is hope, speaking of a patients symptoms in hs presence (unless when needful questions have to be asked) is

to be avoided. Also, there must be no discussion or mention there of other peoples illnesses or deaths. Much talking of any kind is out of place in the sick-chamber; it interferes with that rest of brain which in all kinds of illness, is important.

The nurse-client relatinships according to Hildegard E. Peplau theory is essential to nursing practice. It is the nurse-client interaction that is toward enhancing the clients well-being, and the client may be an individual, a family, a group or a community. Peplau thought the basic element of the relationship is what goes on between the nurse and the patients. The relationship depends on the interaction of thoughts, feeling, and actions of each person. The patient will experince better health when all their needs are fully considered in the relationship. The relationship is dynamic and uses cognitive and affective levels of interaction. It is time-limited and goal-oriented and has three phases. During the first phase, the nurse establishes the structure, purpose, timing and content of the relationship and expresses an interest in discussing the initial structure with the client. Data collection for the nursing care plan continues, and basic goals for the relationship are stated. During the middle, developmental phases of the relationship, the nurse and the client getting to know each other better and test the structure of the relationship to be able to trust one another. The nurse is successful to assess correctly the degree of dependancy that is necessary for the particular client. Plans may be devised for improve ways of coping with the problems and achieving goals. The nurse is alert to the danger off losing objectivity during this phase. The last phase, termination,

ideally occurs when the goals of the relationship have been accomplished, when both the client and the nurse feel a sense of resolution and satisfaction.
