What Is Prostate Cancer?

Prostate Cancer involves the prostate gland, a part of the male reproductive system. Normally, the cells in the gland grow and divide to form new cells in an orderly way. The cells perform their functions, and then die. Sometimes, however, instead of the cells dying, they keep dividing and creating new cells that the body does not need. The cells form a mass of tissue called a tumor. The tumor can be benign (harmless), or malignant (harmful). A malignant tumor means cancer.
