Overcoming Adversity/Fear/Procrastination Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:07 PM Its good to remember that the tea kettle, although

up to its neck in hot water, continues to sing. You should never let adversity get you down except on your kn ees. If you encounter difficulty, don't change your decision to go, just change the direction to get there. Sometimes adversity is what you need to be successfu l. The bigger the adversity, the bigger the victory. Don't get discouraged, ever yone who got where he is, started where he was. Adversity causes some men to bre ak, other men to break records. (William A. Ward) Little minds are tamed and sub dued by misfortune, but great minds rise above them. (Washington Irving) In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity. (Albert Einstein) Success is not to be me asured by what you have reached but by what obstacles you had to overcome. (Book er T Washington) What really matters is what happens in us, not to us. I have ne ver known anyone to achieve anything without overcoming adversity. (Lou Holtz) T he more difficult the victory, the more happiness in winning. (Pele') Success is difficult, it requires enormous effort. Those who can work through the struggle becomes successful. (Jackie Joyner) Something constructive comes from every def eat. (Tom Landry)

You can't let problems lick you b/c they will always be there. (George Allen) Pr oblems are the price of success. (Branch Rickey) In times of adversity, you don' t have an obstacle to deal with, you have a choice to make. It's not the absence of problems that gives us peace, it's Gods presence with us in our problems. (D ale Ellington) The biggest struggles are from within. Adversity is another way t o measure the greatness in people. (Lou Holtz) The difficulties and struggles of today is the price we must pay for the success and victory of tomorrow. Adversi ty is the ruler of the weak, but an instrument of the wise. Success in anything is always a bumpy, uphill road that leads to heights of greatness. The road to s uccess is always under construction. You'll encounter potholes, detours, and del ays. But you must keep your eye on the goal & keep moving forward. (Ed Temple) F ear keeps a lot of people from setting goals. Do the thing you fear and the deat h of fear is certain. Fear is interest paid on a debt you may not owe. FEAR- Fal se Evidence Appearing Real. Don't cross bridges until you get to them. We spend our lives defeating ourselves crossing bridges we never get to. (Bob Bates) Unle ss you try to do something beyond what you already mastered, you will never grow . (Ronald Osborn) Do not let what you can not do interfere with what you can do. (John Wooden) The biggest lie we tell ourselves is "I'll do it later".

If you want an easy job seem mighty hard, just keep putting off doing it. The wi se does at once what the fool does at last. Success comes to the man that does t oday what others put off till tomorrow. The things that comes to the man who wai ts, seldom turn out to be the things he's waited for. Procrastination on a decis ion may be a decision in itself. Pasted from <http://www.inspiration4everyone.com/quotes/overcoming.html>

Attitude Given each letter of the alphabet a number, A=1, B=2, C=3 etc. If you add up the letters of the alphabet in the word "ATTITUDE", this is the result: A=1 T = 20 T = 20 I=9 T = 20 U = 21 D=4 E=5 100, so see ATTITUDE = 100% The greatest discov ery of my generation is that you can alter your life by altering your attitude. Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it. Everything st arts with an attitude. Hardening of the attitudes is the most deadly disease on the face of the earth. How you get up in the morning determines how far you will go in life. Real optimism has reason to complain but prefers to smile. (William Aurthor Ward) Real optimism is exposed to the worst but expects the best. (Will iam Aurthor Ward) Real optimism sees the negative but accentuates the positive. (William Aurthor Ward) Real optimism knows the difficulties but believes they ca n be overcome. (William Aurthor Ward) Real optimism is aware of problems but rec ognizes the solutions. (William Aurthor Ward) Ask yourself: is your attitude wor th catching?

Before you can change your thinking, you have to change what goes in your mind. You can't tailor make the situations in your life but you can tailor make your a ttitudes to fit the situations. To respond is positive but to react is negative. The right train of thought can take you to a better station in life. You have a great attitude when circumstances happens to you and it doesn't effect your att itude. Consider that whatever misfortune may be your lot, someone has always had it worse than you - always. Focus on your abilities rather than your limitation s. The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they make the best of everything. Clear your mind of can't, just drop the "T" because it j ust stands for trouble anyways. We can't direct the wind but we can adjust the s ails. God chooses what we go through, we choose how we go through it. (John Wood en) Misery is an option. You attitude is an outward expression of an inward feel ing. (John Maxwell) We are either the masters or victims of our attitudes. (John Maxwell) The situation you live in doesn't have to live in you. (Roberta Flank) If you want a certain quality, act as if you already have it. (William James) T here are 2 ways of meeting difficulties: 1) you can alter the difficulties, 2) y ou can alter yourself to meet them. When your attitude exceeds your ability, the n the impossible becomes possible. People are as happy as they make their minds up to be. (Abraham Lincoln)

If you are having a tough time changing your future, change your attitude first. Attitude more than aptitude, will determine your altitude in life. Change your thoughts and you change your world. (Norman Vincent Peale) If you don't expect a nything out of life, then you will accomplish all your goals. If your thinking i sn't right then your values, attitudes and everything that effects your life won 't be right either. Whoever controls your attitude controls the way you live. So do you let others control your attitude or do you control it??? You will contro l your mind or it will control you. Don't build obstacles in your mind, remember that God is with you. Attitude is the little thing that makes a big difference. Whenever you look back at your life, be positive. Whenever you look at the pres ent, be realistic. Whenever you look to the future, be bold The ancestor of ever y action is a thought. (Ralph Waldo Emerson) A simple truth: it's impossible to be depressed when you take action. Strong convictions precede great actions. Log ic won't change an emotion but action will. Motivation follows the action not ac tion follows the motivation. It's been my observation that most people get ahead during the times others waste. People may doubt what you say, but they will alw ays believe what you do. What you do speaks so loud that I can't hear what you s ay. The greatest mistake a person can make is to do nothing. (John Maxwell)

The difference between a successful person and others is not lack of strength, l ack of knowledge but lack of will. (Vince Lombardi) The difference between succe ssful people and others often lies in daily actions that are easy to do - or eas y not to do. Both may not want to do them, but successful people does them anywa y. You prove your worth by your actions not your mouth. (Pat Riley) They always say that time changes things, but you have to change them yourself. Happy people plan actions not results. (Dennis Waitley) Your future is hidden from what you do from day to day. The difference between successful people and others is knowl edge but knowledge that is acted upon. Don't complain about things you permit, i f you don't like what's going on in your life, then change it. Even if you are o n the right track, you will get ran over if you just sit there. (Will Rogers) Pe ople judge you by your actions, not your intentions. You may have a heart of gol d but so does a hard-boiled egg. Seeing is better than looking. Listening is bet ter than hearing. Doing is better than talking. Action usually proceeds attitude . "Quality questions create a quality life. Successful people ask better questio ns, and as a result, they get better answers." Anthony Robbins

Belief & Self-Image Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:11 PM Belief is knowledge that we can do something. It's that inner feeling that what we undertake, we can accomplish. So in belief, there is power; our eyes are open ed; our opportunities become plain; our visions become realities. (the best of s uccess) Success is knowing that something is going to happen. One person with be lief is equal to a force of 99 who only have interest. (John Stuart Mill) If you want to know what your true beliefs are, take a look at your actions. If you do n't see yourself as a winner, then you cant perform like a winner. When you've g ot expectancy, then things are going to happen. Whether you believe you can or c an't, you are right either way. (Henry Ford) When the human mind is in doubt, it is most easily swayed by the slightest of impulses. A belief is not just an ide a a person possesses, it's an idea that possesses a person. You must first be a believer if you ever want to be an achiever. God meets us at the level we believ e, not the level we hope. He who believes is strong, he who doubts is weak. Stro ng convictions precede great actions. You may still succeed if no one else belie ves in you, but you will always fail if you don't believe in you. What you belie ve is the force that determines what you will accomplish or fail to accomplish i n life. The picture you have of yourself is exactly how you will perform. You ca n change your motivation by the way you think about yourself and your circumstan ces.

The greatest simple cause of a poor self-image is the absence of unconditional l ove. For a good self-image, choose your friends & associates carefully. Self-imp rovement is a life long process. Many intelligent people never move beyond the b oundaries of their self-imposed limitations. (John Maxwell) There is no such thi ng as can't, only won't. Our best friends and our worst enemies are the thoughts we have about ourselves. (Dr. Frank Crone) Self-image sets the boundaries and l imits of each of our individual accomplishments. (John Mason) You cannot consist ently perform in a manner different than you see yourself.

Boldness & No Excuses Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:13 PM Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power a nd magic in it. (W.H. Murry) If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for a nything. It's good to be a Christian and know it, but it's better to be one and show it. I would rather be disliked for what I am than liked for what I am not. If a man can't be a Christian in the place where he is, then he can't be a Chris tian anywhere. (Henry Ward Beecher) It's not the size of the dog in the fight, i t's the size of the fight in the dog. No one should negotiate their dreams, you should never surrender your dreams. (Rev Jesse Jackson) One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar. (Helen Keller) Too many people let oth ers stand in their way, and don't go back for one more try. Don't pray for easie r lives, pray to be a stronger man!!!! Truth is always strong no matter how weak it looks, and falsehood is always weak no matter how strong it looks. Be bold & Strong. (Joshua 1:9) No matter what you do in life, you have to have a strong f oundation. Success favors the bold. When you don't have strength from within, th en you'll never have respect from without. The problems of this world have been caused by the weakness of goodness rather than the strength of evil.

The bold people always continue. They are eyed by the eagles; the lighting plays about them; the hurricane is furious. No matter, they preserve (Victor Hugo) Yo u can make excuses or make money, but you can't do both at the same time. A sing le reason why you can do something is worth 100 excuses why you can't. 99% of fa ilures come from people that have a habit of making excuses. Excuses are the too ls that a person with no purpose or vision uses to build great monuments of empt iness. Many times the attempt to maintain balance in life is really just an excu se for being lukewarm. Quitting, giving up, failing, judging--all these begin wi th an excuse. Poor people are rich in excuses, rich people are poor in excuses. When you use an excuse, you give up your power to change. Is God your hope or yo ur excuse?? You will learn more from your adversity than from prosperity. Give a n excuse only if you would accept it from someone else.

Character & Faith Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:15 PM The World Needs Men & Women : - Who can't be bought; - Whose word is their bond; - Who puts character above wealth; - Who possesses opinions and a will; - Who a re larger than their vocations; - Who doesn't hesitate to take chances; - Who wi ll not lose their individuality in a crowd; - Who will be honest in small things as well in great things; - Who will make no compromise with wrong; - Whose ambi tions are not confined to their own selfish desires; - Who will not say "they do it because everybody else does it"; - Who are true to their friends in good and evil reports, adversity as well as prosperity; - Who do not believe that shrewd ness, cunning, & hardheadedness are the best qualities for success; - Who will s tand for the truth even when its unpopular; - Who can say "no" with emphasis, al though the world says "yes" There is nothing worse than a Christian going to a h eathen banker to borrow money. The ultimate measure of a man is not where he sta nds in times of comfort and convenience, but rather where he stands at times of challenges and controversy. (Martin Luther King Jr.) The size of a man is determ ined by the size of the things that get him mad. A persons true character is rev ealed by what he does when no one is watching. Circumstances and adversity don't make a man, they reveal the man. Be more concerned by what God thinks of you th an what other people thinks of you. I'd rather be disliked for what I am than li ked for what I'm not. Ability will get a man to the top but it takes character t o keep him there. (John Wooden)

Reputation is built in a moment, character is built in a lifetime. The way a man wins shows much of his character, but the way he loses shows all of it. Encoura ge others to display their character by displaying yours. Reputation is made by what you fall for and character is made by what you stand for. Its not hard to m ake decisions when you know what your values are. (Roy Disney) Character is what we are when our face is in the mud. -Doubt sees the obstacle; Faith sees the wa y, -Doubt sees the darkest night; Faith sees the day, -Doubt dreads to take a st ep; Faith soars on high, -Doubt questions "who believes"; Faith answers "I" True faith and courage is like a kite : an opposing wind raises it higher. Strive to be a person of faith rather than fame. A person who has faith without actions i s like a bird with wings but no feet. Your life will shrink or expand by the pro portion of your faith. The world says seeing is believing, but faith says believ ing is seeing. Many people begin "the good fight of faith" but forget to add pat ience, persistence, and endurance to their enthusiasm. All great discoveries hav e been made by people whose faith ran ahead of their minds. Security & Opportuni ty are total strangers. If an undertaking doesn't require faith then its not wor thy of being called Gods direction. Rising above mediocrity never just happens, it is always a result of faith combined with works.

Nothing significant is ever achieved by a "realistic" person. Faith sees the inv isible, Believes the incredible, and receives the impossible. Reason sees but so far, but faith has no limits. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and t he evidence of things not seen. The only limit to our realization of tomorrow, w ill be our doubt today. (Franklin Roosevelt) Don't let adverse circumstances cha nge your faith, have faith that God can change your circumstances. 3 Groups of P eople 1) Those who surrender to societies ways. 2) Those who surrender some. 3) Those who never surrender!!!!! Character is the ability to follow through on a resolution long after the emotio n with which it was made has passed. -- Brian Tracy Our character is basically a composite of our habits. Because they are consistent, often unconscious pattern s, they constantly, daily, express our character...(Stephen Covey) It is when yo u give of yourself that you truly give. ( Kahlil Gibran) The Cross is the blazin g fire at which the flame of our love is kindled, but we have to get near enough for its sparks to fall on us." ( John Scott) It's not how much we have, but how much we enjoy that makes happiness. (Spurgeon) God loves us and wants to meet a ll our needs. He wants to give us the desires of our hearts, but God also desire s that we seek His face, not just His hand. (Charles Stanley)

There was never a person who did anything worth doing that did not receive more than he gave. (Henry Ward Beecher) People who think they are too big to do littl e things, are too little to be asked by God to do big things.

Comfort Zone & Failure Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:17 PM Why aren't most of us living our dreams? It's because there is something we are trained to honor more than our dreams: The Comfort Zone. Success is never comfor table. To succeed in life you have to get out of your Comfort Zone and stay out of it. The more uncomfortable something is, the more you have to do to overcome it. Success is based on inconvenience. If you think you're going to convenient y our way to success, you will never have it. FAILURE DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE A FAILUR E Failure doesnt mean youre a failure, it does mean you havent succeeded yet. Failu re doesnt mean you havent accomplished something, it does mean you have learned so mething. Failure doesnt mean youve been a fool, it does mean you have a lot of fai th. Failure doesnt mean youve been disgraced, it does mean you were willing to try . Failure doesnt mean you don t have it, it does mean you have to do something in a different way. Failure doesnt mean youre inferior, it does mean youre not perfec t. Failure doesnt mean youve wasted your time, it does mean you have a reason to s tart fresh. Failure doesnt mean you should give up, it does mean you should try h arder. Failure doesnt mean youll never make it, it does mean it will take a little longer.

Failure doesnt mean God has abandoned you, it does mean he has a better way. Succ ess is failure turned inside out. A lot of people are risk takers. Unless you ar e willing to do that, to have a go, fail miserably, and have another go, success won t happen. Many of life failures are people who did not realize how close to success they were when they quit. (Thomas Edison) Falling down doesn t make you a failure, staying down does. Out of every failure is a seed of an equivalent o r greater benefit. Most people fail in life because they major in minor things. Failure is the foundation of success.

Commitment & Self-Discipline & Patience Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:18 PM Committing to a dream is not a one-time occurrence, it must be done daily. The t est of commitment is action. Trying is lying, to do is to be true. What you comm it yourself to become determines what are are. (Tony Campolo) When you have a so lid Commitment & Goals, you have a better chance at reaching the goals. Devoting a little of yourself to everything means committing a great deal of yourself to nothing. Plans change, decisions don t, if it was backed by commitment. I would rather fail in a cause that will someday triumph, than triumph in a cause that will someday fail. Consider the postage stamp: it s usefulness consists in the a bility to stick to one thing till it gets there. Quitting is a permanent solutio n to a temporary problem. Whatever you do, don t do it halfway. (Bob Beadman) I will demand a commitment to excellence & victory, and that is what life is all a bout. (Vince Lombardi) First say to yourself what you would be, then commit to d o whatever it takes. What you commit yourself to be will change you from what yo u are to what you can be. You will find that achievement is easy when your outer goals become an inner commitment. Vision without commitment is just a wish.

Making decisions in life isn t complicated, but making the commitment to those d ecisions is. If you don t make a total commitment to what you are doing, then yo u start looking to bail out the first time the boat starts leaking. The moment y ou completely commit to what you are doing, that is when God moves in to help. T here is a difference in interest & commitment. When you are just interested in s omething , you only do it when it is convenient. But when you are totally commit ted you don t accept any excuses, only results. The world will always give you t he opportunity to quit but only the world calls quitting an opportunity. (Clint Brown) There are 2 pains in life 1) The pain of self-discipline. 2) The pain of regrets. And you choose which one you want. Cooperation is doing with a smile wh at you have to do anyway. The person who disciplines himself to do those things that he doesn t want do, becomes successful. You have to want to be the best bef ore you can even reach for that goal, and you have to be prepared to sacrifice a lot to get there. (Billy Jean King) It s not hard being good from time to time, what s touch is being good everyday. (Willie Mays) If you are going to be succe ssful in life, you are going to have to learn to be comfortable with being uncom fortable. One way to stand ahead & shoulders above the crowd, is to do regular, ordinary things in an extraordinary & supernatural way with enthusiasm. The most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the things you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not. (Thomas Hu xley)

Patience is bitter but its fruit is sweet. There is no greater reward than which comes as a result of holding fast to the word and will of God. It takes time to succeed because success is merely the natural reward of taking time to do anyth ing well. There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. The way to the top i s neither swift nor easy. Nothing worthwhile ever happens in a hurry- so be pati ent. Because of impatience, we are driven out of Gods will.

Courage Page Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:20 PM If you stand up and be counted, from time to time you may get knocked down. But remember this: A man flattened by an opponent can get up again. But a man flatte ned by conformity stays down for good. (Thomas J. Watson Jr.) Cowards never star t, Losers never finish, Winners never quit. Courage is resistance to fear, maste ry of fear, but never absence of fear. (Mark Twain) Even a coward can praise Chr ist, but it takes a man of courage to follow him. Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore. All of our dreams can com e true - if we had the courage to pursue them. (Walt Disney) The people to worry about aren t those who openly disagree with you, but those who disagree with yo u and are too cowardly to let you know. When people share their fears with you, share your courage with them. People don t follow titles, they follow courage. ( Braveheart) You ll miss all the opportunities if you are looking for a sure thin g. There are times when silence is golden, other times it s just plain YELLOW. ( Ed Cole) Success is never final; failure is never fatal; it s courage that count s. (Winston Churchill) Accept the challenges so that you may feel the exhilarati on of victory. (General George S. Patton) He is is not courageous enough to take risks, will not accomplish nothing in life. (Mohammed Ali) I swing big with eve rything i got, I hit big or I miss big. I like to live as big as I can. (Babe Ru th)

We are called to stand out, not blend in. Life shrinks or expands to ones courag e. (Anais Nin) Everyone has talent, what is rare is to find someone with the cou rage to follow that talent to the dark place where it leads. The risk you take i f you change is that the people you ve been involved with won t like the new you , but other people who do will come along. (Lisa Alter) The man who goes the far thest is the one willing to do and dare. (Dale Carnegie) It is better to die on your feet than live on your knees. (Dolores Ibarruri) You are sure to lose far m ore pursuing security over opportunity. A dream that doesn t include risk isn t worthy of being called a dream. If you never take risks, you ll never accomplish great things.

Criticism Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:20 PM People who try to whittle you down are only trying to reduce you to their size. Some people find fault like there is a reward for fault. If you aren t being cri ticized then you aren t doing much with your life. To escape criticism, do nothi ng, say nothing, and be nothing. (Elbert Hubbard) In order to have an enemy one must be somebody. (Winning words of champions) Criticism and finding fault are n ot spiritual gifts.

Desire & Passion Page Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:22 PM A desire so strong, a determination so intense, that you cheerfully throw everyt hing you have into the scale to win what you want, not merely your work & your m oney & your thought, but the willingness to stand or fall by the result--to do o r die. (Robert Collier) What lies behind you and what lies ahead of you pales in significant when compared to what lies within us. (Ralph Waldo Emerson) There ar e a lot of people whose fires are there but need a little poking. Desire is what you are and where you want to end up. One person can never consent to creep whe n one feels an impulse to soar. (Helen Keller) Don t ask time where it has gone, tell it where to go. If you don t daydream and kind of plan things out in your imagination, you will never get there. (Robert Duvall) Lord, grant me that I may desire more than I can accomplish. (Michelangelo) It s better to reach for the stars and hit the moon than to reach for the ground and end up with a hand full of mud. When you put your heart in something, the rest will follow. Being decisi ve, being focused, committing ourselves to the fulfillment of a dream, greatly i ncreases our chance for success. You can tell where a persons heart is by where he spends his time and money. What you set your heart on will determine how you spend your life. When God measures the man, he puts the tape around the heart an d not the head. There is only one degree difference between hot water and steam, and passion is that one degree over desire. Desire is your heart believing in s omething, Passion is that all of you are believing in what you are doing.

We should choose to build on what we feel on the inside, not what we see on the outside. There is a direct correlation between our passion and our potential. Yo u may have to light a fire under some people to get them going. For others, dyna mite may be the answer. Ignore a strong opinion that is without conviction.

Dreams/Goals & Future Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:23 PM As important as your past is, it s not near as important as the way you see your future. Your future will not be the same as your past unless you don t change. No matter what a mans past has been, his future is spotless. (John R. Rice) A pe ssimist is someone regardless of the present, is disappointed in the future. Nev er look back unless you go that way. There is no life in the past. The more we l ook backwards, the less we will be able to see forward. 3 Things we know about t he future 1) It s not going to be like the past 2) It s not going to be exactly like we think it will be. 3) The rate of change will take place faster than we i magine. You don t create wealth by saving it, you create it by out earning it. I f you have no goals, another day of your life just passes you by!

Excellence & Enthusiasm Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:25 PM Its not what you are that counts, it s what you are becoming. What you get by re aching your destination is not as important as what you become by it. There is a lways a vast difference between standard of living and quality of life. You are Gods gift to you but what you become is your gift back to God. People are not ex cellent because they achieve great things, people achieve great things because t hey are excellent. The difference between mediocre & excellence is usually a ver y small effort. Your best success will be in striving to be the best you can be & only you can do that. Anyone who stops learning grows old, whether its 20 or 8 0 and anyone who keeps learning stays young. (Henry Ford) True greatness consist s in being great in small things as well as big. (Charles Simmons) We are what w e repeatedly do, therefore excellence is not an act but a habit. Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire. (Reggie Lea ch) The real secret to success is enthusiasm. (Walter Chrysler) Enthusiasm is on e of the most powerful engines of success. Nothing great was ever achieved witho ut it. (Ralph Waldo Emerson) People catch our spirit just like they catch our co lds. We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, wh en all that we need to be happy is something to be enthusiastic about. (Charles Kingsley) Smiling, being happy and enthusiastic - is always a choice not a resul t.

You can t jumpstart anyone unless you are charged up yourself. Enthusiasm can ac hieve more in one day than what it takes reason to do in centuries. The bigger t he challenge, the more enthusiasm you need. When enthusiasm increases, stress an d fear will decrease. Think excitement, talk excitement, act excitement, & you a re bound to become an excited person. You never rise to great heights and truth without joy and enthusiasm. You can think, talk, and act yourself to dullness & unhappiness. By the same process you can build up inspiration, excitement, and a surging depth of joy. (Norman Vincent Peale) The worst bankruptcy in the world is the person who has lost his enthusiasm. (H.W. Arnold) Every great achievement is the result of heart on fire. Each of us has fire in our heart for something. It is our goal in life to find it and to keep it lit. (Mary Lou Reton.) Enthusi asm is the antidote to boredom.

Habit Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:26 PM I am your constant companion. I m your greatest helper or your heaviest burden. I will push you onward or drag you down to failure. I m at your command. Half of the tasks that you do you might as well turn them over to me and i will do them quickly and correctly. I m easily managed, you must merely be firm with me. Sho w me exactly how you want something done and after a few lessons I will do them automatically. I m servant of all great people and lord for all failures as well . Those who are great I have made great. Those who are failures I have made fail ures. I m not a machine but I work with all the precision of a machine, plus the intelligence of a person. You may run me for a profit or you may run me for fun ; it makes no difference to me. Take me, train me, be firm with me and I will la y the world at your feet. Be easy with me and I will destroy you.

Leadership & Decisiveness Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:29 PM The most valuable gift a leader can give is a good example. Put others before yo urself, and you become a leader among men. No man will be a great leader who wan ts to do it all himself and get all the credit for it. (Andrew Carnegie) A good leader , they say, is someone who can step on your toes without messing up your shine. Develop your abilities while discovering the abilities of others. When yo u find a leader, follow, and when you identify a leader, lead. A leader has to k now his job. If you want people to follow you, you have to know where you are go ing. (Joe Nameth) Leaders are not born, they are made and they are made through effort and hard work. A leader is interested in finding the best way, not his ow n way. (John Wooden) It s not important that you know that you know, it s import ant that you show that you know. True Christian leadership starts with servant h ood. A leader always stays positive no matter the circumstances. Great leaders a re rarely "realistic" by other peoples standards. A good leader inspires men to have confidence in him, a great leader inspires them to have confidence in thems elves. A person doing his or her best becomes a natural leader, just by example. (Joe Damagio) Try to empower, rather than control anyone who looks to you for l eadership.

One of the sobering characteristics of leadership is that leaders are judged to a greater degree than followers. If you don t decide to succeed then you have al ready decided to fail. If you will make the decision, your subconscious will mak e the provision. People often complain of lack of time when lack of decision is the main problem. Places and circumstances never guarantee happiness, you have t o decide within yourself to be happy. (Robert J. Hastings) Success is just a dec ision away. Don t ask time where it has gone, tell it where to go. The greater c ontrol you exercise over your time, the greater freedom you will experience in y our life. When you refuse to change, you end up in chains. If you don t decide f or yourself, someone else will. Either you will control your destiny or someone else will control it for you. Success is the result of a decision, an adjustment of your life to the will of God, guidance means I can count on God, Commitment means that God can count on me. Taking the offensive is not just an action taken outside a person, it is always a decision made within. When you choose to be on the offensive, the atmosphere of your life will begin to change. Being decisive , being focused, committing ourselves to the fulfillment of a dream, greatly inc reases our chance for success. Success is not a matter of chance, it s a matter of choice. A compromise will almost always be more expensive than either of the alternatives.

There comes a time when we must choose the cause in life which we will follow, o r the relentless drift of events will make the decisions for us. Lack of decisiv eness has caused more failures than lack of intelligence or ability. People at f irst don t follow worthy causes, they follow worthy leaders, people buy into the leader first then the leader s vision. Never make a big decision on low tide of your life, it is almost certain it will be the wrong decision. "The difference between whether you say, I wish I would have, or I m glad I did, at the end of your life is whether or not you take decisive action during your life." (Chri s Widener)

Persistence & Perseverance Page Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:30 PM Nothing succeeds like persistence. The most common denominator of all successful people is persistence. The secret to success is to start from scratch and keep on scratching. I ve not failed 10,000 times, I have found 10,000 ways that wont work. (Thomas Edison) Choose the way of most persistence rather than the path of least resistance. 90% of all those who fail in life are not actually defeated, they just simply quit...(Paul J Meyer) Successful people always have more failur e in their lives than average people do because they don t quit. Persistent and consistent effort creates emotional stability. Whatever you do in life will alwa ys call for persistence. Persistence prevails when all else fails. No one finds life worth living, one must make it worth living. Persistence is the quality nee ded most when it is exhausted. Success is going from failure to failure without the loss of enthusiasm. Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on when others have let go. Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly until you learn t o do it well. When I was young, I found that 9 or of 10 things I did were failur es , so I did 10 times the work. (George Bernard Shaw) Perseverance is a great e lement of success, if you knock hard enough and long enough, you are sure to eve ntually wake someone. (Henry Wadsworth) The only alternative to perseverance is failure.

When God sees someone who doesn t quit, he looks down and says " now there is so meone I can use". The greater the degree of spiritual maturity, the greater the ability to get back up and go on. The less degree of spiritual maturity, the lon ger one will hang on to the past. Perseverance is the result of a strong will, s tubbornness is the result of a strong won t. The man who can drive himself furth er once the efforts gets painful is the man who will win. (Roger Banister) 2 Rul es to of perseverance, 1) Take one more step, 2) When you don t think you can ta ke one more step, refer to rule #1. (HJB)

Responsibility Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:32 PM You can t lead somebody to permanent change by doing for them what they can & sh ould do for themselves. Rank doesn t confer privilege or give power. It imposes responsibility. (Peter Drucker) The price of greatness is responsibility. Maturi ty doesn t come with age, it comes with the acceptance of responsibility. (Ed Co le) The more success one achieves, the more pressure there is that goes with it. I d rather have the pressure of success than the lack of pressure that goes wit h anonymity. (Roger Clemons) If you are looking for someone to blame for you not succeeding, try looking in the mirror first. One of the biggest lies of the wor ld is that we aren t responsible for our own actions. It s easy to dodge our res ponsibilities, but we can t dodge the consequences of our responsibilities. You are the only person who can use your own ability. You can t escape the responsib ility of tomorrow by evading it today. Being a good example is better than givin g good advice. Take responsibility for developing your own habits, you are accou ntable to your Heavenly Father.

Vision & Purpose Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:32 PM Where there is no vision, people perish. (Proverbs 29:18)<HR) If you take a man as he is, you make him worse than what he was, but if you see him as the best pe rson possible, then he will in fact become the best person possible. Worse than being blind would be to be able to see but have no vision. (Helen Keller) When y ou see the invisible, you can do the impossible. You life will never be any grea ter than the dreams in your mind. The future belongs to those who can see the po ssibilities before they become obvious. (John Schulley) Vision is the worlds mos t desperate needs. There are no hopeless situations, only people who think hopel essly. (Winfred Newman) Vision is the ability to see Gods presence, To perceive Gods power, To focus on Gods plan, in spite of the obstacles. Vision is the abil ity to see above and beyond the majority. Real joy comes not from ease or riches or from praise of men but from doing something worthwhile. The power comes from God and the glory goes to God. Happiness comes not from having much to live on but having much to live for. Develop a cause for your life, whatever it is, dedi cate yourself to it daily. It s not what a man does that determines whether his work is sacred, it s why he does it. (A.W. Tozer) Life is like a coin, you can s pend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once. (Lillian Dickson) The g reatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it. (William James)

Many people flounder in life because they have no purpose. (George Halas) Always involve yourself with someone that is bigger than you are, because that s where God is. The longer we take to act on Gods direction, the more unclear it become s. The purpose of life is a life of purpose.

Winner / Loser Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:35 PM WINNER vs. LOSER The Winner -- is always part of the answer. The Loser -- is alw ays part of the problem. The Winner -- always has a program. The Loser -- always has an excuse. The Winner -- says "Let me do it for you;" The Loser -- says "Th at s not my job;" The Winner -- sees an answer for every problem. The Loser -- s ees a problem for every answer. The Winner -- sees a green near every sand trap. The Loser -- sees 2 or 3 sand traps near every green. The Winner -- says "It ma y be difficult but it s possible. The loser -- says "It may be possible but it s too difficult. BE A WINNER

Work Wednesday, September 26, 2007 5:36 PM Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. (Thomas Edison) He who is waiting for something to turn up might sta rt with his own sleeves. He who wants milk should not sit on a stool in the midd le of a pasture expecting the cow to back up to him. Thinking is probably the ha rdest work there is, which is probably why so few do it. (Henry Ford) Work is th e price you pay to travel the highway of success. The harder you work, the harde r it is to surrender. (Vince Lombardi) You can t get much done in life if you on ly work on days you feel good. (Jerry West) The only place where success comes b efore work is in the dictionary. Success doesn t carry a dollar sign....Success isn t something that just happens. Success is learned. Success is practiced. And then it is shared. (Sparky Anderson) The faith to move mountains always carry s a pick. Selling is the easiest thing you will ever do if you work hard and the hardest thing if you work it easy. There is no victory at bargain prices. There is a price to pay for success, but there is a higher price for failure. Do more and then you have the strength to do more. You don t die broke for getting a JOB , you die broke for keeping a JOB. (always look for ways to be self-employed)
