This specification covers the design requirements and performance standard for the supply of optical fiber cable.
1.1
Cable Description
Loose tube cable is a design that has high tensile strength and flexibility in a compact cable size. Loose tube cable provides excellent optical transmission and physical performance.
1.2
Quality
Kyung An ensure a continuing level of quality in our cable products through several quality control programs including ISO 9001.
1.3
Reliability
Kyung An ensure product reliability through rigorous qualification testing of each product family. Both initial and periodic qualification testing are performed to assure the cable's performance and durability in the field environments.
2.
OPTICAL FIBER
2.1
TAIHAN offers single mode fiber manufactured by the vapour axial deposition (VAD) process to produce the highest quality glass with excellent geometry, high strength characteristics, and attenuation that approaches theoretical minimum.
The single mode fiber is fully compatible with other commercially available single mode fibers and has the zero dispersion wavelength around 1310nm. The main operating wavelength region of the fiber is around 1310nm and 1550nm.

2.2
General Design
Its optical properties are achieved through a germanium doped silica based core with a pure silica cladding. An acrylate protective coating is applied over glass cladding to provide the necessary maximum fiber lifetime.

For jointing, removal of primary coating is achieved without the use of any chemicals. A simple mechanical operating is sufficient to prepare the fiber for jointing.

CABLE
3.1
Cable design
The cable core contains single mode fibers in loose tubes and required number of filler The interstices in the cable core as well as the loose tubes are filled with jelly compound. Finally, wrapping tape over the cable core. The cable construction shall be in accordance with following table1, table 2, table 3, and fig 1.
3.2.1. The inner sheath, extruded black polyvinyl chloride, shall be applied under the metallic armour.
3.2.2. The nominal thickness of the separation sheath is specified in the appropriate tables.
3.2.3. A suitable binder tape may be applied over the metallic armour.
3.3.1. The armour shall consist of single layer of galvanized steel round wire for multi-core cables And aluminum round wire for single core cables.
3.3.2. The size of the armour wires is as shown in the appropriate tables.
3.3.3. A suitable binder tape may be applied over the metallic armour.
3.4.1. Material The outer sheath shall consist of the black flame retardant polyvinyl chloride(ST2) and complying with the appropriate test requirements specified in IEC 60502-2.
3.4.2. Thickness
OF
: KAS-SMFOCWA-E1
The nominal thickness of the outer sheath is specified in the appropriate tables. The smallest thickness at any point shall not fall below 80% of the nominal value by more than 0.2mm.
3.5. MARKING
3.5.1. Cable marking The following information shall be embossed on the surface of the outer sheath at regular interval not greater than one meter over the entire length of the cable. (1)Cable type (e.g. Fiber Optic SM (2) Size and no. cores (e.g. 12C ) (3) Manufactures name (i.e. KYUNG AN CABLE) (4) Year of manufacture. (e.g. 2011) EX) Cable (Normal Type) Fiber Optic SM SWA 12C KYUNG AN CABLE 2011 SWA)
The serial length marking shall be printed on the surface of the outer sheath per 1 meter interval throughout the length of cable.
3.5.3. Drum marking All cable drums shall be clearly marked using a stencil as follows ; (1) Drum number (2) Type of cable (Fiber Optic SM SWA ) (3) Length of cable (4) Net and gross weight (5) Direction of rotation (6) Position of end cable winding (7) Year of manufacture (8) Name of manufacture (9) Order number & Item number
