(Delhi, 21/01/2012) Lok Satta Party's Call for CANDIDATE(S) for MCD 2012 elections and call for Delhi's Citizens, Citizens Movement(s) and Activist (s) to join hands to bring Clean Politics and Good Governance in Delhi MCD. Lok Satta Party believes that the answer to Bad politics is not No politics but Clean Politics. The mood in the country is Ab Bas, Apna Neta,Aap Bano. People have started believing that the politics of money and muscle can be defeated using People Power Sanitation is a major problem in Delhi. WHO has estimated that there are 700000 preventable deaths, mostly children, each year in India due to bad sanitation. The other big problem in a ward is corruption. Our councillors will work diligently on the many ills that plague the city but will be judged on two major focus areas preventing corruption and improving sanitation. If they are found to be corrupt or their performance remains poor after warnings they will be dropped from the party and fresh elections will be held for that seat. Lok Satta party does not mind contesting a seat again. The councillor will have to put up a corruption prevention plan in their ward in the public domain and show measurable timebound real outcomes (MTRO) on both corruption and sanitation. Lok Satta will also be launching an executive membership drive in Delhi to raise Rs 50 lacs. This needs around 5000 members at Rs 1000 each annually. Lifetime membership costs Rs 10000. Once we reach this goal we will stop as we do not need more money and want to show real results before we expand our membership. We have a clear plan of how we will spend the money and accounts will be fully transparent. The after tax cost is Rs 700 and Rs 7000 if you are in the highest tax bracket. While making this Call for Action to the residents of Delhi to become executive members of Lok Satta , Shri Milan Gupta, spokesperson of the Delhi Unit of the party, said that the Lok Satta Party has decided that it will contest fifteen out of the 272 seats in Delhi. The seats contested will be five in each of the three areas that MCD is likely to be trifurcated into. Lok Satta in Delhi will learn from People Power efforts already underway in Mumbai and Pune to select good candidates and help them win.

We want our elected councillors to have no compulsion to recover money spent on the election through corruption.
