The Conference

The Aberystwyth Conference offers expository preaching, warm fellowship and a prayerful spirit. The week-long programme (see inside) means that whilst there is plenty to do, there is also an opportunity to reflect on what has been heard. For those who wish to explore, Aberystwyth is an ideal base for discovering mid-Wales beautiful coastline and rich history. Prices start from just 140 for adults and 70 for children (including self-catering accommodation), with bursaries available for those on a low wage.

Theres also plenty for young people. Extratime is a seven day programme of meetings, seminars, Bible-teaching and activities for 15-25ish year olds, all carefully arranged to complement the main preaching programme. Children

The Conference
Every August over 1,500 Christians gather in Aberystwyth for a week of Bible teaching in the beautiful surroundings of Cardigan Bay. The main focus of the Conference is preaching meetings held in the Great Hall of the University Arts Centre. This year we welcome for the first time Conrad Mbewe from Zambia as our main speaker. Conrad is the pastor of Kabwata Baptist Church, Lusaka which has overseen the planting of nearly 20 Reformed churches in Zambia and surrounding countries. He is an author and internationally renowned speaker and we are glad he is able to bring Gods Word to us at the morning Conference Addresses during Aber 2012. The evening preachers include Neville Rees, Brian Edwards and Art Azurdia who have all previously been used of God to bless those attending the Conference. Lindsay Brown will speak for the first time at Aberystwyth.

The Aberystwyth Conference is organised by the Evangelical Movement of Wales. For over 50 years this conference has provided warm fellowship around expository preaching that has exalted Christ.

The three prayer meetings held each morning are a key part of the Conference and are both well-loved and well-attended. Children are well catered for with Bible-based meetings for 5-11 year olds and 11-14 year olds which take place during the morning sessions. A crche is provided for children over 1 and under 5 years of age. Theres also plenty for young people with a seven day programme of meetings, seminars and Bible-teaching for those 15-25, all carefully arranged to complement the main conference programme. The young people can also enjoy a lunch, barbecue and sports tournament. Several informal meetings for those over 25 give further opportunity for fellowship and a place to discuss the blessings of each day. The Conference also gives plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful Welsh scenery and to relax with friends, both old and new. Self-catering accommodation is provided in University Halls of Residence which offer single rooms (some

en-suit) with shared kitchens at very competitive rates. Full-board accommodation is also available and there are a range of hotels and guest-houses within easy reach of the University campus. There are also a wide variety of self-catering cottages and caravans in the area if you prefer to organise your own accommodation and join us as a day visitor. Art Azurdia
Arturo Azurdia III is Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology and Director of Pastoral Mentoring at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. He recently established a new church plant in Portland, Oregon which is called Trinity Church, where he is Senior Minister of Word and Worship. He is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, having attended California State University at Hayward where he received a B. A. in Music Performance. His M. Div. was earned from The American Baptist Seminary of the West in Berkeley, California, and his D. Min. from Westminster Seminary in Escondido, California . He was the founding minister of Christ Community Church in Fairfield, California, where he subsequently pastored for 19 years. Art is the author of Connected Christianity: Engaging Culture Without Compromise, Spirit Empowered Preaching (Christian Focus Publications) and a contributing author in additional volumes: Heralds of the King: Christ-Centered Sermons in the Tradition of Edmund P. Clowney, The Compromised Church (Crossway), Reforming Pastoral Ministry (Crossway). He is a frequent speaker at various national and international conferences. His interests include film, literature, baseball, and the music of Arturo Sandoval. Art and his wife, Lori, have two children, Katherine and Jonathan.

Conrad Mbewe
Conrad trained and worked as a Mining Engineer in the Zambian copper mines before answering God's call to the pastoral ministry. He has been the pastor of Kabwata Baptist Church (KBC) in Lusaka, Zambia, Africa, since 1987. Apart from that he also maintains a full itinerant preaching ministry in different countries around the world. Conrad loves writing, is editor of Reformation Zambia magazine and presently contributes a column in one of the weekly national newspaper. His most recent contribution to a book is found in Dear TimothyLetters on Pastoral Ministry, published by Founders Press. Until recently he was the principal of the Reformed Baptist Preachers College in Zambia. He volunteers with the YMCA, providing vocational training to the many unemployed youths in his community. He is married to Felistas, and has been wonderfully blessed with three children plus two foster daughters.

Fellowship of Evangelical Students - an umbrella organisation which links together at least 500,000 students in Christian groups in 152 countries around the world. Since 2007 Lindsay has served as international director for the Lausanne Movement for World Evangelization which last year hosted a global congress for over 4,000 evangelical leaders across the globe. He also serves as director of FEUER (Fellowship of Evangelists in the Universities of Europe), a team of 42 evangelists working under the auspices of IFES and involved in speaking at missions and proclaiming the gospel publicly in universities across Europe. He is married to Ann and has a son, Owen, who is the current UCCF staffworker for Wales. Lindsay and Ann are members of Highfields Free Evangelical Church in Cardiff.

Brian also edits the popular Day One Travel Guide series and continues a ministry of writing and itinerant preaching and lecturing. His wife, Barbara, died in 1998 and he married Rosie, the widow of Phil Crowter, in December 2011. He has two sons and three granddaughters.

Tim Gill
Tim had the privilege of being brought up in a Christian home and was converted when 11 through the work of Crusaders. He originally comes from the West Midlands, did a degree in maths and worked as a maths teacher for three years before going to Bible College. He was Assistant Pastor to Ken Brownell at East London Tabernacle from 1991-1994, was Pastor of Millbridge Evangelical Church, Minehead from 1994 - 2003 and has been pastor at Newtown Evangelical Church since 2004. He is married to Wendy (they celebrated their silver wedding in August 2011) and has three sons. Tim enjoys hill-walking and following sport.

Pete Campbell
Pete Campbell is Pastor of Capel Fron Evangelical Church, Penrhyndeudraeth in north west Wales. He has been Pastor's Assistant at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Llandrindod Wells and a church worker for Townhill Baptist Church, Swansea. After finishing university in Swansea he did UCCF's Relay discipleship programme. He is married to Rachel and they have two young children, Seth and Abigail.

Neville Rees
Neville Rees was Pastor of Libanus Evangelical Congregational Church, Morriston, near Swansea for over 40 years. He has had a long involvement with the Evangelical Movement of Wales having served on many of its committees down the years. He is amongst the few who have attended every Aberystwyth Conference. He is married to Beryl and they have two sons and a daughter. There are now eight grandchildren. His interests are walking, photography and reading.

Lindsay Brown
Lindsay Brown was born in Merthyr Tydfil and has been involved in student work for over 30 years, the first 4 years as a UCCF staff worker in Wales, from 1981-1985; then from 1991-2007 as international director of IFES - the International

A crche for children over 1 and under 5 years of age and meetings for under 14s both take place during the morning conference address. A programme of meetings and activities designed and specifically aimed at 25-44 year olds has been arranged. There will be a time of fellowship following the evening service for those aged 45ish and over.

There is an extensive programme of meetings, seminars and activities for 15-25 year olds throughout the week, which is designed around the preaching programme.

ACCOMMODATION
As usual, a variety of accommodation is available to suit all needs and budgets. Most accommodation is from Saturday to Saturday, though part-week bookings are available in Penbryn Hall (see right). If you prefer, you can book your own accommodation at one of the many hotels, guest houses or campsites in the area. The local tourist information office (01970 612125) will be able to give you a list of places to stay. Youll need to purchase a day visitors pass to attend the conference.

Getting Around
Most accommodation blocks are just a few minutes walk from the Great Hall, which is on the University campus. Pentre Jane Morgan is 10 minutes from the Great Hall. The campus is about a 15 minute walk from the town centre, and about 20 minutes from the sea front. A minibus makes this journey before and after the morning and evening services for those who find walking difficult.

By coming to this houseparty it is understood that all participants will be consenting to be regularly at the meetings, be respectful of other people in the same accommodation, and remain quiet between the hours of midnight and 8.00a.m. Save 40 per flat if you book all eight rooms.

Those booking self-catering accommodation through EMW can have evening meals provided in Penbryn for a supplement of 58.80 per person for the week, 8.40 per day, which must be booked in advance. Lunch can also be purchased each day by anyone attending the conference, but this cannot be pre-booked.

Visitors Pass

Small print: All prices include VAT where applicable. A non-returnable deposit of 30 is required when you book. The outstanding balance must be paid by 28 June 2011, or you risk forfeiting your booking. If you wish to make changes to your booking, or need to be reminded of a late payment, an administration charge of 5 will be applied. If you cancel your booking less than four weeks before the conference (except for certified illness), only half of the fees (less deposit) will be reimbursed. Young people under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The only exception to this is 16 & 17 year olds booking into accommodation type E.

How to book:
1. Choose your type of accommodation (A-G) from the list overleaf, and write it in the box at the top of the booking form. A limited number of day visitors can be accommodated, but priority will be given to those booking in advance. Day visitors should use type H, those requiring an single meeting pass type I. If you are booking more than one type, you will need another form. You may photocopy this, download a form from www.emw.org.uk/aber or request one from the office. (You do not need to use two forms if you are applying for part-week accommodation plus a visitors pass.) 2. Write the names, addresses and age of each member of your party in the spaces provided. (We ask for the age of guests because we are trying to ensure that those who are older have rooms on the ground floor.) If you are planning to attend the conference yourself, make sure you include your own name. All invoices will be sent directly to the group leader, but a conference guide and an entry pass will be sent directly to each member of your party in July. Group leaders are responsible for collecting the fees of each group member and forwarding the final payment to the EMW office. 3. Write down the cost for each person.
