Toastmaster Introduces Evaluators & Speakers Speaker # 1 Swathi A. K., CC/CL Manual: Storytelling Project #5 - Bringing History to Life Time: 7-9 mins. Objectives: a) To understand the purpose of stories about historical events or people. b) To use the storytelling skills developed in the preceding projects to tell a story about a historical event or person. Title: The Great Soul Speaker # 2 Russell Isaacson, CC Manual: Entertaining Speaker Project #2 - Resources for Entertainment Time: 5-7 mins. Objectives: a) Draw humorous and/or dramatic material from sources other than your own personal experience. b) Adapt your material to suit your topic, your own personality, and the audience. c) Use entertaining material as a means of conveying a serious message. Meeting Roles and Descriptions


A typical meeting builds on prescheduled speeches by members, with evaluations given by other members, a session of impromptu table topics, open to all, a general evaluation and finishes promptly 2 hours.

Evaluators: Evaluate the


speakers based on the objectives in the manual.

General Evaluator: Evaluate


the meeting as a whole and each of the speaker evaluators.

Timer: Notify meeting participants


when they have satisfied their time requirement. For example, if a speech is 5-7 minutes, when the minimum time (5 minutes) is reached, the Timer holds up a green card. At 6 minutes, the Timer holds up a yellow card. At maximum time (7 minutes), the Timer holds up a red card.

Ah Counter: Alerts participants


to "ah's" "um's" and other filler words by keeping a written count.

Table Topics Master:


Challenge the membership to answer questions for 1 minute minimum and up to 2 minutes. Questions are unknown to participants before they are asked to speak. If time permits, guests are invited to participate if they choose.
