WORDS OF WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS CHORAL INTROIT *CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: Come, all who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, for the Lord will give you rest. People: The Lord is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. Leader: Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, People: They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Leader: God consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction. All: For just as the sufferings of Christ are abundant for us, so also our healing is abundant through Christ. *HYMN #111G When Morning Gilds the Skies *PRAYER OF CONFESSION Merciful God, we come to you not because we have it all together, but because we are not perfect. We want to be more like your Son, who lived his whole life in love. Our love is most often reserved for those who are close to us and those who love us in return. Our forgiveness is most often conditional. Fairness is more important to us than grace. We cannot live up to the way Jesus leads us. Forgive us, and make us more like Christ in all we say and do. *MOMENTS FOR SILENT, PERSONAL CONFESSION *ASSURANCE OF PARDON *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Nicene Creed (see insert)

THE NICENE CREED We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in our Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin, Mary, and was made human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. he has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
