TQM Project - Let Quality be reflected in every part of the project.

Each group is responsible for one TQM project. The projects pertain to study and analysis of an Indian company that has won a prestigious national or international quality award. Duplication of the company is not permitted and the students should consciously ensure that no one else has chosen the same company for similar purpose. Companies that have won Deming Prize, Ramakrishna Bajaj National Quality Award, Golden Peacock Award, and similar awards have to be considered for project. Assessment is based on written report submitted in advance followed by a presentation in the class. Guidelines for selecting the company Each group will identify one Indian company that has won the quality award and enter in a spread sheet enclosed with this mail within the prescribed date. Select a company preferably with a history of around 10 years with pre- and post-award period of 3 4 years. The award criteria should be fully available to the group and the group has to carefully document the same. Topics to be covered History of the company Organizational details Product and services offered Motivation for award Success story Address such questions as: Why did the company decide to go for award? Do you justify the award won by the company? Why? What is the position or rating of the company in its sector or segment in particular and in general across the entire group of similar companies comparable in terms of size, investment, product range, spread, listing in business publications, etc? How much improvement in terms of financial gains, brand building, company growth, public image has happened after the award? Has the company sustained the spirit? How do you assess it? How do you link the operational issues with the award? Is the company likely to be a winner of another award? Is the companys experience adoptable or replicable by other companies? 1. You can also include other questions on your own to throw light on various aspects. 2. All kinds of supporting data, financial and non-financial have to be included. 3. All references should be meticulously included. Failure to do so results in penalty. Direct cutting and pasting from websites, unnecessary photographs, diagrams, and trivial details should be avoided. 4. The report should include a fine summary about the entire project including comments from the group. Date of submission of report and slides: 06 February 2012 No specific page limit but no more than 25 pages, single side 1.5 space printing, 1 margin, with all pages serially numbered, contents sectioned appropriately and with a cover page giving title, section ID, names of group members, and date of submission.
