Alta Data Technologies Advances MIL-STD-1553 to Ethernet Connectivity Real-time Ethernet Backplane for 1553 Interface is First in Industry

Rio Rancho, NM, January 28, 2012 -- Alta Data Technologies (Alta) announces the release of the PMCE-1553, an innovative new product that provides an Ethernet ba ckplane interface to one or two dual redundant MIL-STD-1553 network busses. Bas ed on a standard PMC card footprint, Alta has implemented an FPGA thin-server UDP technology to provide direct packet access to 1553 BC, mRT and BM setup memory, creating a real-time Ethernet to 1553 converter. Altas advanced, modular softwar e package, AltaAPI, provides complete portability between applications written fo r PCI/PCI Express and Ethernet based products the ultimate in code reuse and sys tem flexibility. The customer may bypass Altas software and have direct Ethernet access to 1553 memory for possible DO178 certified systems. Our new PMCE-1553 product represents true innovation and flexibility for customers 1553 design options. Many avionics Compact PCI (cPCI), VME or VPX systems also employ an Ethernet backplane, and now the customer has the choice to use Ethern et or PCI as their 1553 system backplane. The PMCE-1553 product is a PMC design with rear panel Pn4 or front panel Ethernet connectivity. DO178 compliant operating systems can use their certifi ed Ethernet IP/UDP stack and by-pass library functions, and thus, eliminating co stly code certification steps.
