WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY OF THE INTERVIEW? (Visa Class: B1/B2) When should I come to the Embassy/ Consulate?

The time on the appointment letter is the time to arrive at the Embassy/Consulate gate. It is not the time for your interview with the visa officer. You are only allowed to come to the gate 10 minutes before the appointment time. If you come too early, you may be asked to leave the gate.

What do I need to bring? An international passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended period of stay in the United States. Please note that the passport must have current and accurate biographic information and should have no observations. Original Visa Application (MRV) fee receipt issued by UBA Plc. Interview appointment letter downloaded from VFS website. Original signed visa application form DS-156(EVAF), with all questions answered accurately. Two passport (5cm x 5cm) photographs as per the specifications. Original Form DS-157 (Only for male applicants between the ages of 16 and 45). Bring all previous passports you still have.

What about supporting documents? Applicants seeking to enter the United States to conduct business may present evidence of an ongoing relationship with a U.S. firm or provide a letter indicating the purpose of the trip, the intended length of stay, and the firm's intent to defray travel costs, if applicable. If the company is new or unknown it is helpful to carry tax records of the firm for the last 3 years. If your trip is sponsored by someone else, bring that persons salary slips or bank statements as well as your own. If you are visiting a relative, carry photocopies of the relatives proof of status e.g. Green Card, naturalisation certificate, valid U.S.visa etc. It is also helpful to carry evidence of how the trip will be financed along with letters of deputation, invitation or sponsorship also known as the Affidavit of Support (Form I-134). A tourist may show evidence of financial resources through bank statements and tax returns for the past 3 years. For parents visiting a child resident in the US: If child is a Nigerian citizen, (a) Childss original birth certificate. (b) Photocopy of all pages of childs passport. (c) Where the U.S. visa of child has expired, photocopy of the renewed petition required. (d) Where child is a legal permanent resident in U.S., photocopy of the green card (front and back) is required. If child is a U.S. citizen. (a) Photocopy of bio-data page of U.S. passport or photocopy of Naturalization Certificate. Please note: A lot depends on who you are. It is more important that you can tell the Interviewing Officer about what you want to do in the U.S. and what you have in Nigeria that will keep them from thinking that you are going to leave Nigeria and live in the U.S. You do not get a visa based on how many documents you bring. You get it if you qualify during the interview.

When will I know if I get a visa? Right away. The visa officers will tell you at the interview if you qualify, or if you are missing something to qualify, or if you dont qualify Please remember qualifying for the visa is more about your interview and less about your documents.

When do I get my visa? Issued visas are generally printed and returned within 2 business days after your appearance at the interview.

How do I get my visa? If your visa is issued you will be given a numbered colored ticket by the Embassy / Consulate. Please store this ticket carefully. After 2 business days: o Log on to VFS website www.usa-vfsglobal-ng.com click on Track your Passport link and check whether the status shows Passport at VFS. o You can then come to VFS Application Center in the city where you were interviewed with your collection ticket and collect your passport. o Passports will be handed over during operating hours of the centre. o Passport will be handed over to the representative whose name is mentioned in the Embassy/Consulate collection ticket and comes with a government recognized photo Id.
