Objectives: How RALS eQuiz can increase operational efficiency and support better user compliance How to add multiple quizzes to the same user (operator) Topics: 1. How RALS eQuiz can increase operational efficiency and support better user compliance

Features: o RALS-eQuiz provides the capability to create questions and quizzes associated with any device type enabled in the database plus None or General for questions that dont belong to a specific device, such as: Safety and HIPAA. o A new filter to select a Device Type on the Questions, Quizzes, and Reports pages. - Questions can be associated with the device type ALL. This permits questions to be included in quizzes of any device type. (Ex. Policy questions) o Added the capability to allow multiple quizzes to be assigned to an operator at the same time by either device certification expiration date or by the Operators Home Location. - Increase efficiency since any and all quizzes can be assigned and taken at one time.

o The Last Valid QC Low and Last Valid QC High columns in the grid will
be displayed when a glucose device is selected in the Device Type filter. - POCC can see at a glance when the operator has completed the eQuiz and performed QC successfully [for a glucose device type].

o Ability to filter operators in the Report grid based on saved criteria

(standard or custom filters). May select specific Device Type or leave Default set to All: Standard report filters are: No Filter - Default selection. Displays all non POCC level operators and quiz statistics for each operator. Failed Quiz - Displays operators who have taken and failed any quiz assigned to them. Passed Quiz - Displays operators who have passed any quiz that has been assigned to them. (TIP: Print a list of operators that completed and passed a

quiz before removing Assigned Locations and before the quiz has expired) Have Not Taken Quiz - Displays a list of operators who have been assigned a quiz but have not taken a quiz or have not submitted a quiz that has been assigned to them. Locked out of Quiz - Displays operators who have been locked out of a quiz assigned to them because they have failed the maximum allowable number of times. No Quiz Assigned - Displays a list of operators who have not been assigned a quiz. Failed or Have not taken Quiz - Combines records from the Failed Quiz and Have Not Taken Quiz filters. Select a specific Quiz Name from the Quiz dropdown to display a list of who has been assigned the quiz, who has taken the quiz and who still needs to take the quiz. (No need to build a filter)

RALS eQuiz provides recertify functionality once all operator competency has been met. Difference from RALS-Plus Recertify functionality? POCC is able to select a specific group of operators before clicking the Recertify button whereas in RALS-Plus, POCC must Recertify based on QC or Proficiency performance only. Note: POCC is able to group Edit Certifications from both RALS-Plus and eQuiz.

Advantages: o Build questions and quizzes specific to your institutions needs. o Operators can take quizzes when they have time and at any computer with intranet access within the hospital even if they move from one floor to another; Operators can also save quizzes even if they are interrupted while taking any quiz. o No manual grading and filing of quizzes allowing POCCs time for other projects. o No need to make paper copies of quizzes and then collect them once the quiz deadline has been met; a clear list can be easily established of who did and did not take any quiz. o Operators certifications and quizzes are located in one computer system so no cross referencing required between computer systems and/or paper. - To aid POCCs efficiency, PowerPoint presentations can be presented along with the quiz so that separate classes do not have to be held or - RALS-eQuiz can provide access to POCC developed training courses by entering a specific URL in RALS/Quiz Management. The operator can access the specific training material from any computer on the Network. o Operators can be locked out of taking a quiz if they have too many failures requiring them to follow-up for more training. o POCC can increase efficiency when using the Save As feature when building quizzes. o The Test Taker will log into RALS Web with their Operator ID, if it is their first time logging into eQuiz, a popup window will open asking them to enter a password. (see screen shot below). Subsequent log-ins will require Operator ID and Password. The RALS-eQuiz Home Page will open and the Actions column will alert the test taker to Start the (Training) Course (if Training Material URL is provided with the quiz in Quiz Mgmt) and/or Start Quiz. NOTE: Once an operator passes a quiz, the same quiz can not be taken again.

Topics: 2. How to add multiple quizzes to the same user (operator)

The RALS-eQuiz Quiz Management page enables the POCC to: o View and print information about quizzes o Add new quizzes o Edit quizzes (quiz name, assigned locations, and question list) o Remove quizzes from service o Restore quizzes back into service o Save a quiz as a different name (like a template) o Preview how quizzes will appear to operators. While logged into RALS eQuiz as the POCC or POCC Assistant, the system will not allow you to take the quiz or grade your responses. This functionality applies to all quizzes in RALS-eQuiz. Assign Quiz to Operators Based On: o Home Locations: multiple quizzes may be assigned to operators based on their Home Location as entered on the Operator page in RALS Plus. (See following screen shot) May want to create a location: 6 month competency and assign new operators to this temporary location until after they take the quiz. Hint: Place their Home Location after their name on the Operators page so you will know where to re-assign once their 6month competency is fulfilled.

Notice operator name is listed multiple times depending on number of assigned quizzes.

o Device Operators Certification Expiration Date: Allows the quiz to be

assigned to operators based on the certification expiration date of the operators. Ex. If a location has a select group of operators that are certified for the Inform and iSTAT, but a few are also Inform operators only, one quiz can be assigned based on when the operators expire in the location for the iSTAT and the Inform quiz can be assigned based on location. The following screen shot displays multiple quizzes developed for many different devices. Notice some quizzes are assigned by location and some by Quiz expiration date.
