Public Meetings for Transportation Improvement Program

At the San Antonio Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO) recent Call for FY 2013-2016 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) projects, partner agencies requested funding for 73 road, transit, rideshare, bike and pedestrian projects totaling approximately $964 million. Since the MPO has only about $50 million, or about 5% of the total to allocate, these projects must be prioritized. Your input is vital, so please plan to join us for one of six Public Input sessions. See what road, transit, rideshare, bicycle and pedestrian projects are proposed for federal funding and tell us which projects youd like to see selected. The six public input meetings are scheduled as below: NE Meeting 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 9th at Judson Middle School, 9695 Schaefer Road, Converse, Texas. NW Meeting 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, February 13th at Leon Valley Community Center, 6421 Evers Road, Leon Valley, Texas SW Meeting 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 16th at Port San Antonio Boardroom, 907 Billy Mitchell Blvd, San Antonio, Texas Central Meeting 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, February 18th at VIA Community Room, 1021 San Pedro, San Antonio, Texas SE Meeting 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 21st at Highlands High School, 3118 Elgin Avenue, San Antonio, Texas North Central Meeting 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 23rd at Methodist Hospital Stone Oak, 1139 E. Sonterra Blvd., San Antonio Texas

Each session will be Open House style - the same in content and format and light refreshments will be provided. The MPO will also provide online opportunities for the public to review the requested projects on our website and permit comment on these items at the publics convenience. About MPOs: Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) are created by federal law to provide a comprehensive, cooperative and continuous transportation planning process that brings our region over $200 million annually in state and federal transportation funding for roadway, transit, rideshare, bicycle and pedestrian projects. For more information on the MPO, please visit our website at www.sametroplan.org. MPO meetings are accessible to persons with disabilities. To request special assistance or an interpreter, please call 227-8651 or TDD 1-800-735-2989 (Relay Texas) at least five working days in advance. For more information, please call 210-227-8651. (end)
