. Three coils, each having a resistance of 20 and an inductive reactance of 15 are connected in star to 400V, 3-phase, 50Hz supply. Calculate (a) the line current, (b) power factor and (c) power supplied. 2. Three similar coils, connected in star, take a total power of 1.5kW at a PF of 0.2 lagging from a 3-phase, 400V, 50Hz supply. Calculate the resistance and inductance of each coil. 3. A balanced 3-phase, -connected load has per phase impedance of (25+j40). 400V, 3phase supply is connected to this load. Find (a) phase current, (b) line current and (c) power supplied to the load.

A 3-phase, 50Hz, 400V three-phase motor develops 100hp (74.6kW). Power factor and efficiency of the motor are 0.75 lagging and 93% respectively. A bank of capacitors is connected in delta across the supply terminals and power factor raised to 0.95 lagging. Each of capacitance unit of four similar capacitors. Determine the capacitance of each capacitor.

2. A 3-phase motor load has a power factor of 0.397 lagging. Two-wattmeter method was used to measure the power. Total power consumption was 30kW. Find the meter reading on each wattmeter. 3. Two-wattmeter method is used to measure the power consumption of a balanced three-phase load. Find the sign of each wattmeter reading and equation for total power consumption when (a) Resistive load, (b) R-L load with phase angle is 30, (c) R-L load with phase angle is 60, (d) R-L load with phase angle is 75 and (e) Inductive load.

A transformer takes current of 0.6A and absorbs 64W when primary is connected to a supply of 200V at 50Hz and secondary is open circuit. Find the magnetization and iron loss currents. State any assumptions. 3. A 10kVA, 2000/400V single-phase transformer has R1 = 5, X1 = 12, R2 = 0.2 and X2 = 0.48.
