ANNA UNIVERSITY CHENNAI, CHENNAI 600 025 QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME OF THE ALL INDIA COUNCIL FOR TECHNICAL

EDUCATION Ph.D and M.E Programmes under QIP To upgrade the technical qualifications, knowledge and capabilities of faculty members in the institutions offering MCA programme, the AICTE has recognised Ramanujan Computing Centre, Anna University as the nodal centre and Computer Science Department of University of Pune and Bengal Engineering and Science University (formally Bengal Engineering College (DU), Howrah) as sub-centres. This program provides opportunities for faculty members currently working in AICTE approved MCA institutions to upgrade their qualifications, by offering admissions to M.E. and Ph.D. programmes in Computer Science and Engineering. These centres also arrange short courses in current topics to update the knowledge in Computer Science / Information Technology areas. Applications are invited from eligible faculty members from institutions approved by AICTE, and offering MCA programme for admission to Doctoral Programme (Ph.D) and M.E programme in Computer Science and Engineering, in Anna University Chennai, Chennai, Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur and University of Pune, Pune. ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS (A) Doctoral Programme (Anna University Chennai and University of Pune only) (i) Anna University Chennai, Chennai (a) Under Faculty of Engineering Candidate should possess first class M.E. / M.Tech. degree in the Faculty of Information and Communication Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering (i.e M.E./ M.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation, Instrumentation Engineering, Information Technology, etc.) or equivalent, as recognised by the Anna University Chennai. (b) Under Faculty of Science and Humanities MCA Degree with a FIRST CLASS. (ii) University of Pune, Pune Candidates should possess a M.E./M.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering, or MCA degree under an Engineering or Science Faculty or an equivalent qualification as recognised by University of Pune.

(B) M.E. Programme (i) Anna University Chennai, Chennai Candidate should posses first class B.E. / B.Tech. degree in the Faculty of Information and Communication Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering (i.e, B.E. / B.Tech. in the branches mentioned above), (OR) MCA degree with a first class (ii) Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur, West Bengal The candidate should possess a first class B.E/B.Tech or degree equivalent in the faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (i.e degree in branches like Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, etc.) only. (iii) University of Pune , Pune Candidates should possess a non-Computer Science Engineering degree (M.E./M.Tech./B.E./ B.Tech. in any subject other than Computer Science) only. ADDITIONAL ELIGIBLITY CONDITIONS (i) (ii) (iii) A prospective candidates should have taught subjects for MCA students at least for two years He / She should be a full time regular / permanent faculty member in an institution approved by the AICTE The candidate should be sponsored on deputation for the period of study with pay.

Computer programmers, Systems Programmers, System Managers, Visiting Lecturers, Guest Lecturers, Technical Assistants and such other non teaching categories of staff are not eligible. CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION: 1. The Candidate, if selected, should be (a) relieved to join the programme in time for the session for which he/she will be admitted (July 2010) (b) Once a candidate is deputed, selected and admitted for the programme, his/her normal salary and allowances shall be paid by the parent institution. 2. Conditional recommendation by the Principal / Head of the Institution / management will not be accepted. Candidates should rejoin their parent institution after completion of the programme.

SCHOLARSHIP AND CONTINGENT GRANT Candidates admitted to work for the Ph.D. degree under the QIP will receive a scholarship of Rs.9,000/- per month and a contingent grant of Rs.10,000/- per annum. The candidates admitted for M.E will be paid Rs.4,000/- per month as scholarship and Rs.3,000/- as contingent grant per annum.

PRODEDURE FOR ADMISSIONS Candidates will apply to The QIP Co-ordinator (MCA), Ramanujan Computing Centre, Nodal Centre, Anna University Chennai, Chennai 600 025., with all relevant documents, indicating their preference for the institution to which they would like to join. Interviews will be conducted for the eligible candidates at the institution(s) opted by the candidate, and selection will be made based on the performance in the interview, qualifying examinations marks, and years of experience. Candidates from accredited institutions will be given preference. Candidates will be allotted to institutions as per their choice and rank in selection. Selected candidates should get relieving order and join along with other regular candidates, in the academic year. No TA / DA will be paid for attending the interview.
