Rebar-concrete interface properties were investigated by conducting the single rebar pullout test. Failure mode bond between the rebar and the matrix is one of the major factors affecting the mechanical behavior of this composite material. If the confinement of the concrete is strong enough to prevent splitting failure, the dominant failure mode will be shear pullout failure.
