Con estas bazas, no es de extraar que la Junta de Andaluca haya presentado la candidatura a la Unesco para que este arte se convierta en Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad. El flamenco es un patrimonio cultural andaluz, y como tal, y gracias a su extensin mundial a lo largo de los ltimos aos, esta expresin artstica ha dejado de ser un estereotipo para convertirse en un signo de identidad de toda una regin, aunque sin limitarse a su mbito territorial. La candidatura que ahora se ha presentado es una clara muestra de los an-

helos de los amantes del flamenco para que se siga extendiendo este gnero, y para conseguirlo, la Junta de Andaluca ha presentado la campaa Flamenco Soy, cuyo objetivo es lograr la mxima implicacin social para la candidatura a travs de la realizacin de un conjunto

de actividades dentro y fuera de nuestras fronteras. Como parte de esta campaa, desde el 28 de febrero, da de Andaluca, est en marcha la pgina www.flamencopatrimoniodelahumanidad.es, donde se recoge toda la informacin de esta iniciativa, traducida al ingls, francs y japons. Adems, a travs de esta plataforma web, los ciudadanos que as lo deseen pueden adherirse a la candidatura. El deseo de que el flamenco pase a formar parte de esta lista de bienes a preservar comenz hace cinco aos, sin embargo, se rechaz su inclusin porque entonces era imprescindible que el bien estuviera en peligro de desaparecer, algo que evidentemente no suceda con el gnero popular espaol con ms repercusin internacional. Ahora que se ha eliminado este requisito, la candidatura cuenta con grandes opciones de conseguir este importante reconocimiento. La Unesco decidir en el ltimo trimestre del ao si el flamenco es merecedor de convertirse en Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad, con lo cual se garantizara la continuacin de la creatividad de esta tradicin cultural y se unira a tan prestigiosa lista con otros bienes a preservar como el tango o el silbo gomero.n

Andalusia is home to one of the most well-known artistic expressions in the world, flamenco, an art that has transcended boundaries thanks to the emotion, strength and tradition that it represents.

ew fail to feel moved when they witness a show, wherever they are from and whatever race they belong to. With these attributes, it is no surprise that the Andalusian Regional Government has just applied to UNESCO to obtain World Cultural Heritage status for this art form. Flamenco is an Andalusian cultural asset and, as such, and thanks to its worldwide coverage in recent years, this artistic expression has ceased to be a stereotype to become an identifying feature of the entire region, although without restricting itself to its own territory. The application that has been put forward is a clear demonstration of the desire among flamenco lovers for this genre to continue expanding, and to achieve this the Andalusian Regional Government has presented the Flamenco Soy campaign, the aim of which is to achieve as much public involvement as possible in the candidacy by undertaking a set of activities within our borders and beyond. As part of this campaign, since February 28, Andalusia Day, the
