February 7, 2012 POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Behavioral Health Counselor Salary Grade 17 Salary: $46,652 - Plus $3,026 Location Pay
The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene Inc. has an opening for one (1) full-time Behavioral Health Counselor at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH). The NYC DOHMH is one of the worlds oldest and largest public health agencies. It has a single mission: to protect and promote the health of all New Yorkers. Substance abuse Referral to Treatment and Extended Brief Intervention sessions delivered in NYC DOHMH STD clinics, operated by Bureau of STD Control, will be the primary focus of this position. Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling and appropriate licensure (LMSW; LMHC) Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Providing task supervision and support to the interventionists at the assigned STD clinic sites Conducting screenings for alcohol and substance use/misuse/disorders to supplement the work of the interventionists when needed Providing all extended brief intervention at the sites; and make referrals as necessary to treatment Functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary team as well as a clinical team on-site Collect all required and related documentation and prepare qualitative and quantitative reports when needed Assist in the development of protocols for risk management Assisting with special administrative tasks and projects whenever necessary to facilitate better patient care and/or program evaluation Participating in studies to analyze social needs, behaviors and factors that put patients at increased risk for STD/HIV. Participating in training and professional development to develop competencies in areas related to patient care (e.g. interviewing/counseling, motivational interviewing, Screening Brief Intervention and Referral Treatment Travel may be required between various STD clinics.
