SPRING ORGANIZING GRANT Texas College Democrats will be awarding an Organizing Grant with a prize of $200 to one of its chapters this semester (Spring 2012). To apply for the grant chapters are asked to create a video highlighting their political activities so far this semester (activities can include, but are not limited to: voter registration drives, blockwalks, phonebanks, rallies, and lobbying). The video is to be no more than 2 minutes long. To be considered, the video and the completed application (see below) need to be submitted to both President David DelaFuente (ddelafuente@txcollegedems.org) and Secretary Lizzy Joyce (ljoyce@txcollegedems.org) via e-mail formatted as a downloadable MPEG before April 1, 2012. Grant applications will be judged by the TCD Executive Board, whose final decision may not be contested. The caliber of each chapters highlighted activities will be weighed more heavily than the quality of the video itself. By submitting an application the chapter grants TCD all rights and permissions to its video. CDA WINTER CONFERENCE The College Democrats of America Winter Conference is coming up soon. This year the conference will be held the weekend of March 10th in Chicago, Illinois. If interested in attending, see the link below to access the registration page where you can sign up and pay the $10 fee for the conference. THE PROMESA PROJECT As December of 2011 came to its end, the Texas Democratic Party launched a bold and innovative project for college Democrats in a new approach to Latino outreach. The initial launch generated a great deal of buzz and raised enough money to be able to launch Phase Two, which consists of this Fellowship Program, paid media and a continued crescendo of the current social and earned media efforts. Given that Two-thirds of our states rapid population growth over the past decade has come from Latinos, That emerging demographic will eventually turn Texas Blue. But for our schools and families struggling under disastrous Republican policies, eventually isnt soon enough. Those accepted into the project will be brought to Austin for a weekend of trainings with travel/lodging/meals paid for by TDP.
