(May/June-2009). 3) A coir is unwound from a drum of 30 mm diameter. Draw the locus of the free end of the coir for unwinding through an angle of 360. Name the curve and draw a normal and tangent at any point on the curve. (May/Jun-2007-AN). CYCLODAL CURVES: (Cycloid, Epi Cycloid and Hypo Cycloid) 1) A circular wheel of 50mm diameter rolls without slipping along a straight line. Draw the curve traced by a point P on its rim for one revolution of the wheel. Name the curve. Draw tangent and normal at any point M on the curve. [Jan-2011(FN)]. 2) A circle of 50 mm diameter rolls along a line. A point on the circumference of the circle is in contact with the line in the beginning and after one complete revolution. Draw the cycloidal path of the point. Draw a tangent and normal at any point on the curve (Nov/Dec 2010). 3) A circle of 50 mm diameter rolls on a horizontal line for of a revolution clockwise. Draw the path traced by a point P on the circumference of the circle. Name the curve. Also draw a tangent and normal at any point on the Curve. [Jan-2009(FN)]. 4) A rolling circle(Generating Circle) of diameter 50 mm rolls on the outside of another circle (Directing Circle) of diameter 180 mm without slipping. Draw the path traced by a point on the circumference of the rolling circle. Name the curve. 5) Draw an epicycloid of rolling circle 40 mm diameter, which rolls outside another circle(base circle) of 150 mm diameter for one revolution. Draw a tangent and normal at any point on the curve. 6) A rolling circle(Generating Circle) of diameter 50 mm rolls on the inside of another circle (Directing Circle) of diameter 200 mm without slipping. Draw the path traced by a point on the circumference of the rolling circle. Name the curve. 7) Draw a hypocycloid of a circle of 40 mm diameter that rolls inside another circle of 200 mm diameter for one revolution. Draw tangent and Normal at any point on the curve. [Jan-2011(AN)].

CONICS CURVES: (Ellipse, Parabola and Hyperbola) 1) Draw the locus of a point P which moves in a plane in a such a way that the ratio of its distances from a fixed point F and a fixed straight line AB is always 2/3. The distance between the fixed point F and fixed straight line is 50 mm. Name the curve. Also draw a tangent and normal on a point on the locus at a horizontal distance of 55 mm from the fixed straight line. (May/June-2010). 2) Draw the conic curve, if the distance of focus from the directrix is 70mm and the eccentricity is 3/4. Name the curve. Also draw a tangent and a normal at any point on the curve. [Jan-2009(AN)]. 3) Construct an ellipse when the distance of its focus from the directrix is equal to 50 mm and the eccentricity is 2/3. Also draw a tangent and normal to the ellipse. (May/Jun-2007-FN). 4) A fixed point F is 3.5 Cm from a fixed straight line. Draw the locus of the point P moving in a such a way that its distance from the fixed straight line is equal to its distance from F. Name the curve and draw a tangent and normal at any point on the curve. (Jun-2011). 5) The focus of a conic is 50 mm from the directrix. Draw the locus of a point P' moving in such a way that its distance from the directrix is equal to its distance from the focus. Name the curve.
