ICE Conference 2012 Survival Guide

Whether you have attended the ICE Conference in the past or this is your first time at Pheasant Run, we are sure that this will be a meaningful learning experience for you. Conference events include two days of pre-conference workshops, three Keynote presentations, a Wednesday evening kick-off party, a Thursday evening DJ party, General Conference breakout sessions, poster sessions, Virtual Worlds and UDL Playgrounds, a Personal Learning Network Plaza and an Exhibit Hall, filled with vendors. There is much to do at the ICE Conference, and we want to be sure that your visit is a memorable one. This Survival Guide is filled with many tips to make the most of your experience as well as information about things to do while you are in St. Charles. Most importantly, be sure to take advantage of the networking opportunities available at ICE Conference 2012. This event is a great way to share ideas with other educators. You are sure to leave the conference with ideas you can use in your classroom and share with colleagues in your schools and districts. Have fun and enjoy ICE Conference 2012!

Here are some basic tips that will get you started as you plan your conference activities: 1. Bring and Wear your Name Badge: Your name badge is your ticket to enter the conference. You must wear your badge while you are attending the conference. (A badge holder will be provided upon arrival at the conference.) If you paid fees by Feb. 2, your name badge was mailed to you; be sure to bring it with you! Pick up your badge upon arrival at the conference if it was not mailed to you. 2. Conference Day Schedule: Dont miss our After Hours Events listed on the next page! Tuesday, Feb. 28: 8:30am-3:30pm. Preregistration for full-day workshops was required. Wednesday, Feb. 29: 8:30am-3:30pm. Preregistration for full-day and half-day workshops was required. On-site registration for workshops will not be available. Featured Presentation registration will remain open until filled to capacity. Thursday, March 1: 8:00am-4:30pm. Preregistration was required for half-day workshops. General Conference registration will remain open through the conference days. Friday, March 2: 8:00am-4:00pm. Pre-registration was required for half-day workshops. General Conference registration will remain open through the conference days. 3. Parking: If the large lot at the Pheasant Run MegaCenter is full, overflow parking will be available at the Hilton Garden Inn across the street with shuttle bus service to Pheasant Run all through the day. 4. ICE Conference Wiki: Our Conference Wiki has proven to be an important feature of the conference for attendees in past years and has been updated for 2012. Retrieve resources posted by presenters and more! http://www.icewiki.info/ 5. Accessing or Adding to your Existing Registration: Forgot which workshop you are to attend? If you would like to view your registration and invoice or would like to add to your registration simply re-access your existing online registration account. Once you are in your account, click on the text at the top of the page in the green box that states, "You have already registered for this conference. If you would like to see your current registration click here..." 6. Volunteer! Volunteers play an important role at the conference and we invite you to consider volunteering your time at one of the many locations around the conference facility. It's a chance to have fun, work with a great group of people, and earn $75 reimbursement toward your paid Thursday and/or Friday "General Conference" registration! Complete the volunteer form at http://tinyurl.com/ICE2012volunteer to join in! 7. Hotel Information: We encourage all conference attendees to stay at the Pheasant Run Resort and Conference Center in St. Charles, Illinois. We have negotiated special rates for people who attend the conference, so when you make your reservation, be sure to mention that you are attending ICE Conference 2012 to get the special rates. Check the ICE Conference website for details. 8. Registration Changes/Cancellations: All conference registration cancellations had to be submitted by Feb. 2, 2012. If you find you cannot attend the conference as registered, you may send someone to attend the conference in your place. Follow the directions posted on the registration webpage for details. 9. Networking and After Hours Events


There are many opportunities at the ICE Conference to meet other educators and participate in a variety of interactive activities and special learning playgrounds. Be sure to take advantage of these networking opportunities: Wednesday Night Kick-Off Reception All conference attendees are invited to our FREE Kick-Off reception in the Exhibit Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 29 from 3:00-5:30 PM. Thursday Night ICE Celebration 2012 Join us for the official ICE Celebration 2012! Everyone is invited for socializing, dancing, a cash bar and the awesome music stylings of D.J Skittles. PLN Plaza, Virtual Worlds Playground and UDL Playground The Personal Learning Network (PLN) Plaza will be located on Bourbon Street near the New Orleans Ballroom. The Virtual Worlds Playground and UDL (Universal Design for Learning) Playground will be set up in the Marsalis Rooms along with the Poster Session presentations.
