Andrew Kelly and Ana Devine are proud Gators at the University of
Florida. Their school pride shines through in everything they do, and
that excitement is most evident in the work they are doing for Uloop.
The UF Uloop page has seen a vast increase in site views immediately
after their promotions: their campus has been chalked with various
Uloop logos, and posters and yers have been creatively and
strategically placed. Most importantly, this team uses a face-to-face
approach when promoting. They are constantly chatting on campus
with their peers and representing Uloop with the utmost enthusiasm.
Great work team!

was so much fun to see all the students look at my

Public Relations major Marah
Lidey is a new media addict.
This rising junior at the University of
Georgia is fascinated by the eld of
technology.
Media is changing every single day, Marah said. In
response to this changing marketplace, UGA is offering
a New Media Certicate for students who complete a
number of classes regarding all forms of technological
advancements. Everything from Gutenbergs printing
press, to newspapers, magazines, blogs, Facebook, Twitter
and even iPhones are being discussed, she said.
Marah is particularity interested in the Dale Carnegie
approach to social media.
Successful social media platforms listen rst, and sell
second, she said. They focus on member experience and
interaction. When asked how she would promote a brand
on Facebook, Marah answered, Fan pages! They can be
updated in ways proles just cant. A great fan page would
provide a lot of information and engagement. I want to
know how to get it, who has it, updates, picturesI want
to feel like their friend. Talk to me, not at me.
As for Generation Ys love affair with social media, Marah
said the expected, In most of my classes, especially large
lecture halls, everyone is on their laptop. Most professors
are OK with students being online during class. Personally,
I take better notes with paper!
Marah is working as a Social Media Director this semester
for the emerging social-networking tool Brightkite. She
is pleased that her studies and knowledge can come
to life with an internship that aligns so closely with her
major. Her promotions have taken the shape of tabling
events, presentations in her classes, stickers on the back
of bathroom doors, Brightkite Attacks UGA chalking
on campus and even parties that include ping-pong balls
aunting the Brightkite logo.
Marah must have an active Twitter account and a blog
for her journalism major. Keep an eye on her updates at
