V112-3.0 MW One turbine for one world

Vestas continues to pioneer the wind power business

Vestas has multiplied the capacity of its wind turbines dozens of times since the companys first mass-produced turbines were introduced in 1979. Today, Vestas turbines generate more than 60 million MWh annually, which is enough energy to power several million households. Vestas has installed more than 38,000 wind turbines and continues to pioneer the wind energy business, achieving breakthroughs that transform the entire industry. Our latest innovation is the V112-3.0 MW, a hard-working, reliable turbine designed for low and medium wind speed sites onshore anywhere around the world. The V112-3.0 MW is built on tried and tested technology that Vestas has improved even further. We call it innovative technology with decades of experience. The V112-3.0 MW offers an exceptional rotor-to-generator ratio for greater efficiency and delivers unsurpassed reliability, serviceability and availability under all wind and weather conditions. It can generate more electricity than other turbines in the 3 MW class and sets a whole new standard for turbine performance and efficiency. The V112-3.0 MW is the next great stride for modern energy.

State-of-the-art testing methods

The wind is everywhere, blowing in all countries around the world just waiting to be harvested. And its the fastest option we have for producing clean, sustainable and plentiful energy today. Reliable, efficient and high-performing wind turbines have even made wind power competitive with conventional energy. At the Vestas Testing Centres and Technology R&D, engineering experts and technicians use state-of-the-art testing methods to ensure that all components and systems meet our standards for safety, performance and reliability throughout their 20-year service life. These tests push the components beyond their specifications. One method is known as Highly Accelerated Life Testing, where some of the testing is conducted in a HALT chamber. Extreme fluctuations in temperatures combined with heavy vibrations are just some of the stress tests the components are subjected to here. This enables Vestas to eliminate design flaws long before the turbines reach the market, which ensure turbine owners the lowest possible cost of energy. Vestas has been leading the way for more than 30 years. Today, we install a turbine somewhere in the world every three hours. And were setting the standard for tomorrows wind power business.
