Our Accounting team specializes in recruiting professionals from junior to senior management levels covering areas including Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Investment Accounting, Audit and Tax. Market overview and trends for 2010:

Recruitment activity within the Banking and Finance sector was very quiet during early 2009, but has picked up by almost 50 per cent since beginning of Q3. Continuing the trend, it looks optimistic to grow further in 2010. In 2009, companies could manage to get approvals only for very limited headcounts resulting in recruitment focus on revenue generating positions only. But as business picks up in 2010, banks will see hires in the areas of sales strategy, product heads and overall organization development. Asias comparative recruitment importance grew across the banking spectrum. The outlook remains bright for compliance and risk professionals because of the ongoing need for companies to maintain a strong efficiency and regulatory transparency in daily operations. Project management is going to be another hot area this year largely because of big bank mergers including Nomura/Lehman Brothers, Bank of America/Merrill Lynch and ABN AMRO/RBS. Insurance: Recruitment activity within the insurance sector (including both international and local insurance companies) was more robust in 2009. This was driven by pre IPO processing and new system implementations within some of the major global players. The trend seems to continue and the sector looks optimistic to grow further in 2010. Private Banks: Recruitment within private banking companies looks optimistic with forecasts that HNI (High Net worth Individuals) wealth especially within Asian region will start growing

again as the global economy recovers. With investors now choosing simpler products over exotic instruments, we can expect more demand for candidates with skills and experience in dealing with plain vanilla than exotic products. Hedge fund and private equity companies: 2009 was a comparatively bad year for recruitment activity within hedge fund companies caused by a combination of factors, including liquidation of funds, investor redemptions and poor performance. Hiring activity is picking up slowly and strategically for hedge fund industry in 2010. Private equity firms would be interested to hire only those professionals with exceptional profile, excellent PE background, strong network and Mandarin / Korean language ability. Accounting firms: With banks and other financial services companies gearing up their recruitment, accounting firms are also seeing growth in business activity across many parts of the practice. Growing economy and business is resulting in more career opportunities for audit trained professionals. We also expect to see an increase in salaries with Big 4 level audit firms. Candidates: Overseas candidates with Asian language capabilities and local markets exposure have good scope to find suitable job opportunities here. But, banks are still committed to cost cutting and are keen to hire overseas candidates only on local terms instead of offering expat packages. Hiring at junior levels could increase considerably compared to last year because of new projects and additional levels of activity planned for within the banks. Candidates with unstable career profile are finding it difficult to secure new job opportunities in the current market conditions. Employers are interested in looking for only those candidates with a strong commitment and exact profile match. The number of contract professionals grew in 2009 because of ongoing technology upgrades to project-management of banking-sector mergers. Unemployed candidates realized the adverse market conditions and chose to accept short-term job contracts rather than having a huge gap on their CVs. We expect to see these experienced contract candidates secure permanent jobs in 2010. Salaries: To realign the mix of base salaries and year end bonuses, most of the investment banks have increased the base salaries of their employees during 2009 / early 2010. Candidates changing jobs in 2010 can expect an average increase of 10 to 15%. Company reputation,

job stability and career progression could also be the key consideration aspects for job changing employees. For more information please contact Swapna Reddy, Senior Consultant at swapna@linksrecruitment.com or call 3915 0221.

Sales & Marketing About

The Sales and Marketing team at Links Recruitment specializes in identifying the ideal candidate in sales, marketing, PR and communications, business development, product development and merchandising across a multitude of industry sectors. Links also has a dedicated sub-team specializing in retail related positions from frontline sales staff up to and including back office retail operation professionals. We focus on quality client service by meeting all of our candidates, identifying their key skill sets and underlying motivators to ensure they match each companys unique culture and requirements.

Market overview and trends for 2010:

Concurrent with the sharp rise in hiring sentiment seen in December 2009, we expect an increasing trend in hiring expectations to continue through to Q1 and Q2 of 2010 across most industry sectors. While nearly all industries are showing an upward trend in hiring, some have recovered faster than others, most notable Advertising, Marketing and Media, IT and Technology to Consumer related sectors compared to slower hiring expectations in Trading, Manufacturing and Garment. The most sought after talent has proven to be in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Merchandising and Quality Management. Generally speaking, candidates who have been out of the market the past year are still showing some flexibility in their salary expectations and areas of focus but overall will have increased bargaining power as demand for top talent increases. There also seems to be increased activity of employed candidates re-entering the job market on the look out for better opportunities. This dynamic is forcing companies to re-assess their salaries and benefits with the objective of attracting top talent as well as retaining them. Salary, long term career development and company reputation have become key selection criteria to many candidates in the market.

Human Resources and Administration About

Links Recruitment's HR and Administration team focus on providing top quality candidates to our clients. Service and delivery has always been our key and we pride ourselves that over the years we have successfully placed many Human Resource and Administrative Personnel for various industries such as Banking and Finance, Legal, Garment, Luxury Goods, Retail and other MNC Corporations. Our clients are pleased with our proactive approach in identifying talent with a strong understanding of client's organization and culture. Ability to consult clients on a broad range of compensation and benefit issues - market situation, trends and culture are also one of our value added service which we provide.

Market overview and trends for 2010:

In general, 2009 was a rough year for most industries. At the height of the global financial crisis, we constantly heard about retrenchment threats, redundancy exercises, engagement problems and budget cutbacks. Both employers and employees had a very bleak view of the economy leading to a higher unemployment rate. In the Human Resources industry, during 2009 HR professionals were busy in the aftermath of the financial crisis dealing with redundancy exercises, headcount freeze and disengaged and unmotivated employees. It was common to see HR practitioners taking broadened responsibilities within a firm in order to help their company move through a difficult period. Towards the close of 2009, there were signs of recovery as companies started to gain confidence leading to more hiring. Through our survey, we noticed a 25% to 30% increase in terms of recruitment in Q4 as compared to the first 3 quarters in 2009. More companies across different sectors were looking to hire Support Staff, Office Managers and HR professionals and this active hiring will be more apparent in the year 2010. The Banking and Finance industries also regained hiring momentum. Last year, significant numbers of banks had mergers or downsizing which led to uncertainties in their organizations; resulting in high turnover. We expect the situation to be settled in 2010. The financial industries have started hiring middle office, back office and font office positions as to be ready for the next wave. Other industries including professional firms, relocation and manufacturing are also showing some activities in hiring but at a slower rate.

Although the current economy shows signs of recovery, we believe it will not reach the levels at 2007/2008 in 2010. Many companies will take a more cautious approach in their committed spending including hiring new headcount. HR professionals also have a big challenge ahead of them in the year of 2010, looking into how to retain their employees, enhancing training and development and how to re-motivate their top talent through attractive compensation and benefits. There was no major significant drop in salaries during 2009. HR professionals mostly took the same pay but with added responsibilities. However, secretaries and administrative candidates who were readily available in the market took a slight drop in salaries. The more highly paid secretaries took a 10% to 15% cut due to shortage of demand for support staff. Many employees received no pay increment or bonuses last year. However in 2010, we will see higher expectations in the next salary review and bonus time. Temporary & Contract About

Links Recruitment has been offering Temporary and Contract staffing for over 10 years to a wide variety of clients. We have continued to source and recruit high caliber candidates within Banking and Financial institutions as well as a vast array of other Multinational clients ranging from Professional Services, Retail, Hospitality, Telecommunications, and Consumer Goods. Our candidates possess a wide range of capabilities, from secretarial, administration, customer service, and human resources to back and middle office operations, project management, accounting, finance, and marketing. One of our key strengths has been to identify suitable candidates with excellent language skills and who have the right skill set for the job.

Market overview and trends for 2010:

The past 18 months have been a tumultuous time for everyone. The global financial crisis saw an increased availability of various skilled individuals who became interested in short term opportunities. With the flexibility to entertain the idea of a contract or project role, these candidates can also maintain and keep their current skill set and still be a part of the workforce. A stable company background became the number one criteria candidates were seeking over salary package. In addition to temporary (temp) hires covering annual leave or maternity leave, companies are recruiting to assist in integration projects, change management, and streamlining processes. Certain roles still require a helping hand, and some have finite end dates, while others may convert to permanent status after a period of time. For employers, temps provide a low risk contract to test the candidate fit into the company culture or team, their job performance, value of their role to the business but also enable an employee to hit the ground running saving time and cost on training. Overall, business sentiment is improving and we are optimistic for the coming year. For 2010, we see an increased need to fill vacancies that were previous redundancies. With many financial institutions undergoing mergers and integration projects, there will be a continued need for those who are open to flexibility and face some uncertainty. Specialized roles are critical now in order to help in re-creating sustainability and growth.

We are optimistic looking at 2010 and see continued growth in the contract sector across all segments of the economy. For more information please contact Ingrid Wong, Manager at ingrid@linksrecruitment.com or call 3915 0240.
