2011 YAAEYC Conference

Once again our annual YAAEYC Early Childhood Conference was held at Penn State York on Saturday, October 1st. It was such a fantastic day filled with interesting, informative sessions, excited participants and engaging presenters. This year we had approximately 270 participants. Attendees had the choice of many new and exciting sessions including infant/toddler, school-age and supervisory topics which were offered for the first time. The comments received by the conference committee after the conference were overwhelmingly positive. Participants were especially happy with the amount of interesting sessions to choose from and were inspired by the sessions they attended. We would, again, like to thank Penn State York for providing such a great facility; their staff for helping out and all the volunteers who made this day such a success. We would also like to thank everyone who attended. Your enthusiasm and commitment made this day such a success!!! Please remember that there are always opportunities to help out with this great event. Please contact the committee members or any YAAEYC board member to join this fabulous committee. Thanks, YAAEYC committee members.

Week of the Young Child

Mark you calendar for the 2012 Week of the Young Child April 22-28!
The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration, which focuses public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. After last years super successful week, we hope to expand our events, and get more community involvement. The highlight of the Week of the Young Child is our WOYC Banquet honoring all providers of high quality ECE. We are currently recruiting for members of the committee to help with everything from prize gathering to promotion to helping with the WOYC dinner (and much more!). Please contact Trish Bissett at Bissettt@unitedwayyork.org or Angie Sparks at asparks@ywcayork.org if you are interested in finding out more information about the committee.

One Book Every Young Child

The 2012 selection for One Book Every Young Child is Zachariah Ohoras Stop Snoring, Bernard! Bernard loves curling up to go to sleep. But there is one little problem. Bernard snores LOUDLY! So loudly that he keeps all of the otters awake during naptime. So loudly that Grumpy Giles tells Bernard to move his snoring somewhere else! Kickoff event is March 27, 2012 in Harrisburg. Look for this book coming to you in early Spring. Copies of the book will be distributed at the Week of the Young Child Banquet in April.
