Carriage House Renovation

Client: Private Owner Size: 2,200 SF Date: 2007 Location: Richmond, Virginia

This renovation was to take a historic Carriage house and convert it into an architecture studio on the 1st floor and an ADA accessible apartment on the 2nd floor. For the 1st floor the client needed to have areas for: drafting, model making, meetings and storage. An ADA compliant restroom was also a need. In the apartment the client needed to have a bedroom, living room, full kitchen with eating area and an ADA compliant bathroom. The exterior of the building was modified to include an ADA lift for access to the apartment.

Restaurant Renovation
Client: Private Owner Size: 5,700 SF Date: 2007 Location: Richmond, Virginia

This renovation was for a local sub shop and a fine dining restaurant. For the sub shop I spoke with the owner and discussed what his vision was for the establishment. From there I changed the space to meet his spatial needs and functional requirements, as well as meeting ADA standards. I designed a wrought iron enclosed exterior elevator and a matching staircase that leads up to the 2nd floor and rooftop. For the rooftop, I created an outdoor bar and lounge area that would be owned and operated by the 2nd floor restaurant.

Barge Design Charrette

Client: Private Owner Size: 900 SF Date: 2006 Location: Richmond, Virginia

The Barge design charrette was for the re-design of an old canal barge for our teacher. This barge would serve as a living quarters and studio for him while he was in town teaching and a weekend getaway for his wife and 3 children to come visit him. The space had to include a kitchen-dinette area, bedroom, workspace and an area for the children.
