2.) Based on the aspect of the report we have seen that some employees more than others are creating an ethical issue. The aspect that the company is paying the entire bill that is involved with information technology, they are taking advantage of the companys free internet access. Although all are reported to be using the internet as opportunity, some have not being taken the time for any unprofessional issues. While not all are browsing the internet for any unproductive matter like facebook.com, eBay.com, itunes.com, youtube.com etc; some other employees are using the time to engage into educational and

professional reasons. Some of the employee surf on websites like cnn.com, yahoo.com, etrade.com, nordstorm.com which can be viewed that they could be engaged into business research, or business advantages or maybe checking their mail for any customer interest about sales or profits. Although the employees are being involved into an unethical issue, management should consider the employees that are surfing the educational and professional websites and maybe adapt the Risk Aversion Principle. In my view the company is not directly creating any ethical issue in monitoring employees who use the internet. The company should be involved in using all its resources to create a competitive advantage and that involves monitoring of the unproductive aspects in the company. Although managers should apply an Immanuel Kants Categorical imperative aspect they should consider the other employees. Although some employees are not using the advantage of the internet wisely, others are for the benefit of the company. So management should make a good decision on how to address this issue as to have more efficiency and give the focused employee more motivation to building the companys benefits.

3.) In developing a solution for this ethical issue in this company we should consider the five ethical analysis which are: Identify and clearly describe the facts The facts are that employees are engaging into ethical issues by engaging into some unrelated web surfing and are not being efficient in the work place. Define the conflict or dilemma and identify the higher order values involved Although all are using the advantage of the free internet, not all are using the opportunity unwisely. Some of the employees are using the opportunity for social interactions, music downloads, and personal purchasing/activities. While other are using the net for

educational and professional activities, on websites like cnn.com and Etrade.com. They could be looking for business advantage, business threats and business opportunities that could benefit the business. Identify the stakeholders By identifying the aspect about the level of effect the ethical issue is having on the shareholder in the business; if it is becoming a threat to investor the matter should be address directly and quickly. Identify the option that you can reasonably take As a manager, I would issue a memo to all the employees about the issue of using the free internet access as a disadvantage for the business and personal advantage. Which the company will be monitoring the internet activities and will set an amount of time for the week which employees can use the internet for personal activities like facebook.com etc. Still giving them the option to use the internet for themselves but time will be restricted for each employee; management doesnt want to create a negative view by employees. Identify the potential consequences of your options After giving the restrictions and policies and of the internet using and if employees are still not following the rules, does who are being unethical will lose their access of the internet opportunities. If the company as a whole is not following the policies the unprofessional website will be block by the IT department until production and efficiency is improved.
