I.

TITLE OF THE PROJECT A proposed project of establishing or building an OVERPASS along the

National Highway fronting provincial Hospital

II.

ABSTRACT The OVERPASS project is proposed primarily because of the increase in number

of the vehicular accidents happening in the particular site. This project aims to secure every individual, may it be a patient or outpatient of the hospital from any accidents especially in crossing the street early in the morning where there are still no traffic aids on guard. Most of all, this project is really intended for the senior citizens, young ones and those who were not very familiar in the city which are commonly the patients of the hospital.

III.

INTRODUCTION An OVERPASS is a bridge, road, railway or similar structure that crosses over

another road or railway. A pedestrian overpass allows pedestrian safe crossing over busy roads without impacting traffic. Traffic may flow in all directions at or near open road speeds. Road traffic crashes have been highlighted as a major global public health problem. The traffic of pattern injuries in developing countries reflects their high pedestrian population, rapid motorization and poor state of the road infrastructures. Their roads usually have a traffic mix, poor illumination and sigh posting, poor maintenance and roadside hazards. Road infrastructural improvements are therefore critical in talking this problem although a combined strategy of education, law enforcement and environment modification has been recommended. This study assessed the effect of an OVERPASS on the rates of pedestrian crashes and injuries.

IV.

LITERATURE REVIEW The proposed project was all about the establishment of an OVERPASS along the

National Highway fronting Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH). The primary beneficiaries of the project are the patients and outpatients of the government hospital as well as the whole public. This project will be the best solution to the alarming increase of accidents happening on the project site regardless of the pedestrian lane and traffic aids. With the use of an OVERPASS, accidents that trigger the safety and security of all the beneficiaries involved will be avoided.

V.

METHODS RESEARCH DESIGN The proposed project covers some possible information sought to

determine the objectives. In order to make this proposed project possible, an informal interview was conducted to some people with direct contact to the hospital and the project site. Information was also gathered through a questionnaire and from different ideas and concepts of some past works from the internet which relates to the proposed project. It also includes the actual observations on the need of an OVERPASS in the city.

RESEARCH RESPONDENTS The respondents of the study will be the guardians of the patients, vendors, security guards, by-standers, some tricycle drivers and hospital workers. The researchers will interview them informally and will give them questionnaires to give insight on the different aspects of the research.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA Data gathered from the actual interview and from the documentary files and other information gathered through research work were tabulated and analysed. Forecasts were undertaken based on the data solicited to determine the variability of all aspects of the research.

PROCEDURES 1. Research of a possible project to be proposed. 2. Making of a project title. 3. Collection of needed information. Methods of Collecting Data: a. Interview Method. Personal Interview (Informal)

b. Questionnaire Method 4. Organizing the data 5. Presentation of Data

Levels of Measurement: Ordinal-Level Data

Responses of the Respondents Responses YES NO MAYBE Frequency 37 10 3

6. Analysing and tabulating the data gathered. 7. Interpreting the data to forecast a result.

VI. RESULTS Since the project is still in the proposal stage, there are no results yet. But when approved, this will be a very helpful project in the society.

VII. DISCUSSION OF METHODS We consider this project as a demand of time which means there is no other time to do this but NOW. Because we believe that prevention is better than cure, it would be fitting and proper that we will always be ready to bridge the gap between our security and our very own selves. This project will also be a great determinant of the citys progress and we will be able to prove that a city with secured people has also its secured success.
