Corporate Social Responsibility Of DBBL -As a Business strategy

Introduction: Corporate social responsibility is a term that is the burning issue at present in the modern business world. CSR generally refers responsibility of the corporate house towards the society.To sustain in the competitive business world,there is no way to ingore social responsibilities. Dutch Bangla Bank ltd is also mainting CSR activities to maintain good relation with the society.It provide different kinds of services including consumer banking, wholesale banking, SME banking, and so on. The corporate social responsibilities of DBBL cover education, environmental protection, health care, HIV protection, sports, and research issue and so on.At present they also contributing different kinds of sports and cultural activities as well as helping poor and meritorious students by providing financial assistance around the country. Statement of the problems and setting objectives: To know the CSR activities of DBBL and how it works as a business strategy for attracting potential customer. Another objectives of our survey is to indentify the nature of CSR,why it is essential now a days for corporation especially Banks.Finally how DBBL enjoy competitive advantage through CSR. Review of leterature: Now a days,Company is measured not only of its profit but also of its contribution towards the stakeholders as well as society.Some corporation takes CSR as the most essential tool to sustain and some corporation consider it as a useless expenses. Many researches have been done on this topic. Among them almost every research suggests that CSR mandatory to sustain in competitive business world. Justification: Competition among the business firms are increasing day by day. So it is the tough job of every firm to retain and attract new customer.Every bank is trying to do something special so that it can attract new customer and retain current customer. Maintaining social responsibility is one of them. DBBL is most widely recognized for its donations to social causes. DBBL is now the top bank in the country for attracting new customer segments by focusing the social issue rather than focusing profit making. So CSR is the most focused area of DBBL. Limitations of research:

The following limitations are apparent in the study: a) Primary and secondary data collection b) Unavailability of sufficient books, journals, articles and publications. c) Limited knowledge regarding this study. d) Privacy issue. e) Limitation of the sampling methods. Methods of research: Both primary and secondary sources of information will be collected for the purpose of this report. a. The primary source of information: 1. Oral conversation with the bank employees. 2. Oral interview with the banks client. 3. Exposure on different desk of the bank. 4. Telephone interview of both clients & employees 5. Direct personal observations and interviews. 6. Questionnaire survey b. The secondary source of information: 1. Annual report of Dutch Bangla Bank Limited. 2. Periodicals published by the Bangladesh Bank. 3. Various books, journal, articles, website etc 4. Different publications regarding CSR.

Techniques of Data analyses: Graphical presentation,table bar,pie chart by area surface available techniques are will be used for this analyses. Time reference: We will take data of 2010 which is being analysed within few days. Time budget:

To collect data and for analyses,it will take approximatly 3 weeks..Next week we are going to start which will complete before 26 March. Conclusion: I think at present it is a burning issue for corporate world.So there is need to be research in this area thats why I am interested in researching in this fields.
