September29thmarkedanotherdayoffunattheSeacoastSquadronas members,familyandfriendscametogetherforadayoffoodandfunat asquadronpicnicheldatDoverPointPark. Thedaywasactionpackedandcreatedanatmosphereoutsidethenor malroutineforeveryonetogettoknoweachotherbetter.Beingpart ofateamandunderstandingyourteammatesiscrucialtothesuccessof ourmissions,onemembersaid. Memberswereencouragedtobringtheirfamiliesandfriendsandmost did.CaptJasonSmithnoted,Itwasreallynicebeingabletomeeteve ryonesfamilies,everyoneissowarmandfriendly.Somanytimesyou hearourmemberstalkabouttheirfamiliesbutdontgetanopportunity tomeetthem,itwaswonderful. Therewerevariousactivitiesthroughoutthedayincludingawater balloontoss,tugowar,andateamworkactivitygraciouslyplannedby thePiazzafamily.Thosethatattendedalsoplayedwhiffleballand touchfootball. Thefoodthatwasbroughtwasworldclass.Therewassomethingfor everyonefromsaladstochickentoburgersaswellasanentiretableof deserts.Withsuchavariety,mostmembershadahardtimedeciding whattoeach...sotheyjustgrabbedabitofeverything! BothcadetsandseniorscametogetheronOctober12,2007 toconducttrainingaboutthebasicsofCAP.Althoughthe lessonsweredivided,muchofthesubjectmatterwastaught tobothtypesofstudents. Subjectmatterincludedcoursesinuniformwear,customs andcourtesies,howtoprogressinCAPanddrillandceremo nies. Inall25membersattendedandwereexcitedtolearn.For many,thiswastheirfirstactivityoutsidethenormalweekly meeting.
Duringthetraining,cadetmemberslearnedabouthowto shineshoes,preparetheiruniform,customsandcourtesies, anddrillmovements.Theyalsolearnedaboutallthecadet achievementsandhowtoearnthem. TheOfficersalsolearnedcustomsandcourtesiesanduni formwearaswellasabouttheCAPspecialtytracksandCAP Officerprogression. Laterintheday,4CAPofficerstookdrivingevaluationstoget theirCAPdriverslicense. ThistrainingisthefoundationtoagreatstartintheCAP program.ItwasprofessionalandImgladIattended.SM RobertGodin.
