Language in education policy 14 july 1997 The aim of the education ministry in achieving the practice of the languages

in south Africa is possible, thus there are policies in languages and norms which we must follow, so that our languages are emphasized and practiced to build a better community, a policy is a law that everyone must abide by the rules to respect how certain things should be done. Thus we shall discuss the facts of the ministries as follows. The education ministry states that according to the constitution of the republic of south Africa the government and the department of education is aware that our cultural diversity is valuable and hence is tasked amongst other things to promote multilingualism, therefore when the policy was introduced it was the departments concern to say that all the official languages in south Africa including sign language must be learned in schools ,the policy even states that the policy will progressively be guided by the results of comparative research the aims of the ministry in language are to promote full participation of language in our society ,to promote and develop all official languages supporting the teaching and learning of all other languages required by learners or our communities. The aims of the ministry are very clear which is why we strongly agree that they can be achieved in practice, the policy will bring back the neglected languages ,we as the community have the rights to know about our languages , which we will use for communication ,our languages are valuable to us as proudly south Africans ,the policy goes on to subjects and says all learners shall be offered at least one approved language as a subject from grade 1 to 12 ,learners must have the background of their languages, that will make it easy for them to understand their culture and where they come from , knowing all the languages is advantageous ,makes communicating very easily ,it is very important that we learn our languages namely ,Zulu, Xhosa, Sotho ,and Tshivenda, etc. The language of learning and teaching in public schools must be official, thus the ministry says: the facilitation of national and international communication through promotion of or multilingualism through cost effective and effect mechanism, meaning that we can achieve in practice by having enough affordable learning resources in our schools, so that the learners can have practical reading sessions, to understand the importance of language,

The way of teaching will have an influence in learners, teachers must have the theory of that particular language, the interest of the learner in learning will be determined by their understanding, practice makes perfect, let us have the passion to know about ourselves ,that will helps us know exactly who we are. The policies and norms together they make us aware of what we are supposed to be doing with our special languages, we must be proud of to speak our origins ,it is every ones responsibility to know, talk , and understand at least three to six official languages which help the society to realize how grateful we are as south Africans to have eleven official languages of communicating, we have rights as individuals, learners, schools ,and duties that we must do ,it is therefore clear that practice can be achieved, we must know what is happening in our country, together we can achieve best
