C Paracetamol Biogesic Analgesic Antipyretic -

H Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis in the CNS and blocks the pain impulse through a peripheral action

E Can be given without regards to meals. -

C If to be given as analgesia, assess onset, type, location, duration of pain. Assess temperature directly before and 1 hour after giving medication

K Assess temperature directly before and 1 hour after giving medication. If respirations are <12/min (<20/min in children), withhold the medication and contact the physician.

C Prednisone Adresone -

H Prednisone irreversibly binds with glucocorticoid receptors (GR) alpha and beta for which they have a high affinity

E Take drug as prescribed and do not alter dosing regimen or stop medication without consulting physician. -

C Avoid or minimize alcohol and caffeine may contribute to steroid-ulcer development in long-term therapy. -

K Report symptoms of GI distress to physician and do not self-medicate to find relief. Do not use aspirin or other OTC drugs unless they are prescribed specifically by the physician.

E Tramadol can be taken with or without food, but take it the same way each time. -

C Inform patient (and significant other as appropriate) that drug may cause respiratory depression if used with alcohol. Recommend abstinence. Instruct patient to immediately report seizure. You should not take this medication if you are allergic to tramadol, if you have ever been addicted to drugs or alcohol -

K Monitor respiratory status. Withhold drug and contact prescriber if respirations become shallow or slower than 12 breaths/minute. Do not crush, chew, or break a tramadol tablet. Swallow it whole. Breaking the pill may cause too much of the drug to be released at one time. This medicine is for oral (by mouth) use only. Powder from a crushed tablet should not be inhaled or diluted with liquid and injected into the body. Using this medicine by inhalation or injection can cause life-threatening side effects, overdose, or death

C Vitamin B Pharex Vitamin B-Complex -

H Vitamin B normally plays a significant role in the metabolism of every cell of the body, especially affecting the DNA synthesis and regulation but also fatty acid synthesis and energy production

E May be taken with or without food (May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.). -

C Instruct patient to take this drug as ordered -

K Monitor for any hypersenstive reactions

C Vitamin K Aqua-Mtphyton fat-soluble vitamins; antifibrinolytic agents -

K Hypersensitivity to any component of this medication. Patients receiving vitamin K therapy should not take OTC Medications without advice of Health Care professionals Emphasize the importance of frequent lab tests to monitor coagulation factor

Phytonadione is used in the -Caution patient to avoid IM prevention and treatment of injection and activities leading to -Instruct patient to take this drugs hypoprothrombinemia injury. as ordered Advise patient to report any symptoms of unusual bleeding or bruising. -Advise patient to carry identification at all times describing disease process.

C Morphine Epimorph Opioid agonist analgesic

-binds to opiate receptors in the -Dilute and administer slowly IV -Monitor any signs of Respiratory -Tell patient to lie down during IV CNS altering pain perception and to minimize likelihood of adverse depression, acute or severe asthma administration response effects. -Keep opioid antagonist and facilities for assisted or controlled respirationreadily available during IV administration

C Gabapentin -

H Decrease in severity of neupathic pain felt by the patient

E - Administer initial dose at bedtime to minimize adverse reactions, especially ataxia, dizziness, fatigue, and somnolence. - Give drug at least 2 hours after an antacid - As needed, open gabapentin capsules and mix contents with water, fruit juice, applesauce, or pudding before administration.

C Instruct patient not to take drug within 2 hours after taking an antacid. Dont exceed 12 hours between doses on a 3-times-a-day schedule.

K -Be aware that routine monitoring of blood gabapentin level isnt needed. - If patient has trouble swallowing gabapentin capsules, advise him to open them and sprinkle contents in juice or on soft food immediately before use
