Abstract A good education is the best stepping stone in every childs future. As members of the present generation, it is our responsibility to give this proper education to the next generation in order to secure a bright future for them and the country. We, selected students of University of Asia and the Pacific, have chosen San Antonio Daycare Center as the site to pursue our project. This first semester of the school year 2011-2012, we are organizing a project called Student Tutors which is a tutorial program wherein we UA&P students will teach the children of the San Antonio Daycare center. We would be helping the professors in teaching the children the basic learning areas; reading, writing, and spelling. This project will be implemented from July 2011 to March 2012. Through this, we aim to help the children in the daycare center in improving their knowledge of the basic learning areas. Also, we aim to help with the problems of the daycare center in school supplies and the basic materials needed for learning. Statement of the Problem The group has identified the different problems that arise during the learning stages of preschool and the problems that go with being a private institution in a small community. The problems are identified as the following: First, through our site visit and the through the consultation with the director of the daycare center, we learned that the students are having difficulties when it comes to reading comprehension. This is a major concern since reading is the basic tool we need in order to gain more knowledge. Second, the daycare center is having difficulty providing the needed educational materials for the children. Since most of the pupils are from indigent families, the teachers are using their own means in order to provide the needed materials. However, they are not able to provide these materials always since they also have families to tend to. This project is made to address the aforementioned problems. It seeks to provide the students of the San Antonio Daycare Center the quality education they deserve.

Objectives The project aims to: 1. Help the students deal with their difficulties when it comes to: a. Writing b. Spelling c. Reading 2. Give them tutorials once a week that strongly focus on such skills. 3. Help the daycare center with their problems in providing educational materials. Procedure The group will conduct tutorial lessons that aim to improve the basic skills of the students of the San Antonio Daycare center. In achieving this, the following will be implemented: A. Site evaluation 1. The group will have to consult with the director of the daycare center in order to know the needs of the school and the current standing of the students. 2. The group will have to evaluate selected students personally in order to know the areas in which they need more focus on. B. Planning 1. After consulting with the director and evaluating the students, the group will have to set plans and ideas in order to teach the students effectively. C. Approval and implementation 1. The group will have to meet with the NSTP advisers for the approval of the project. 2. After approving, the plans will be strictly followed in order to avoid unwanted delays.

Evaluation process The performance of each of the member will be evaluated after every session. Selected students of the group will observe each of the members and evaluate their work. Also, the progress of the project will be evaluated through documents (photos, videos). Facilities and Equipments Facilities and equipments that are to be used in this project will be utilized. The test materials to be used will be provided by the school, and will be financed by the group. Other specifications will be made after the consultation and evaluation. Personnel The group members will serve as personnel for the duration of the project. Each member will be given a duty to carry out in order to effectively teach the students and fulfill the projects objectives.
