Save Dimmeys Stage 2

Lodge your objection to Yarra Council by 30 March.

Developer Richmond Icon Pty Ltd has just lodged its new plan for a (new) 9-storey tower on the Dimmeys Staff Car Park, and its just as bad as the other proposed 10 Storey tower on the Dimmeys shop site, only metres away. Twin Towers @ Dimmeys! Once again its time to fight the Dimmeys Towers. They want a waiver of the loading bay requirement, (all bins outside site?) minimal open space, a caf, tree destruction and - oh - provision to have a car stacker pit!

The developer claims: NO REVIEW (APPEAL) RIGHTS TO VCAT!

Yarra Councillors will soon vote on the plan. Lodge your objection by 30 March 2012. Fill in the objection form and send it in. You can add an extra sheet for more thoughts. Even better write your own objection from scratch. Your own objection gives you more scope and may carry more
weight with Council. Make your objection specific to the developments impact on you and the street. Ensure you include Application No, Your Address, Proposal and developer details as shown on the Objection Form. You may wish to address: The height, scale & bulk of the building, which will dominate the skyline and overshadow surrounds. This will be the second Dimmeys tower only metres apart. The density of the development with 42 dwellings in 9 storeys on such a small site. Demand for on-street parking would adversely affect current residents. The applicant must meet full parking requirements on site. Railway Place is a narrow two-way street with parking on the Northern Side only. Increased traffic congestion in surrounding streets generated from additional vehicles. Lack of open space within the proposed development. Our parks are currently overused. The proposal plans to exploit adjoining White Street Park, and public walkways. A further disastrous precedent for more huge developments in Swan Street and the Yarra area. Heritage East Richmond station is threatened by an overdeveloped & overshadowed proposal. Public transport, schools and community services are unable to cope with extra demand.
