What is the relation between sociology & anthropology? Anthropology is essentially the study of humankind in all its aspects (culture, development). It differs in sociology in taking a more historical and comparative approach. Sociology is the systemic study of the development, structure, interaction, and collective behavior of organized groups of human beings. What are studied in the ff: a. Physical Anthropology- study of human biology, particularly its origins, diversity, and adaptations. In order to place humans in a comparative perspective, physical anthropologists also study the origins and biology of the Primates, the group of mammals that includes humans and our closest nonhuman relatives. b. Linguistics- The study of the nature, structure, and variation of language, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, sociolinguistics, and pragmatics. Studies human communication systems. Its topics range from language to the dynamics of human interaction. c. Archeology- the study of cultural variation over time, focuses on artifacts, constructions, or other evidence of human activities. Its techniques are used to investigate prehistory, or to provide physical evidence of contemporary events such as locating historical structures. d. Cultural Anthropology - study of human behavior, especially human culture. Culture encompasses the patterns of learned behavior and thought that are characteristic of members of a society and are not the result of biological inheritance. Science is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe. Social sciences are the study of humans and their interactions, and natural sciences are the study of the universe and how it works. Pure Science is basically a way to define how things works. what is the whole phenomenon behind the numerous processess that we observe around ourselves. To answer such question in simple and understanding way we have devised some formulae and laws which govern these processes. these terms are included in science. While applied science is the branch of science that deals with application of scientific facts and discoveries for the benifit for the common human being so as to continue the human desire to excel in the technology. Social psychology - is the scientific study of how people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others. c. Human ecology - is the subdiscipline of ecology that focuses on humans. More broadly, it is an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary study of the relationship between humans and their natural, social, and built environments. d. Social change and disorganization e. Sociological theories & methods f. Demography - is the statistical study of human population. g. Applied sociology - is a branch of general sociology which at its basis is the scientific study of society as a whole. Sociology looks at society from every angle making observations on how we interact within society, how cultures affect each other and the individual, global issues and more.
