EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Our main problem is violence against women in Pakistan. We shall focus on the nature and forms of violence which women have to face. we shall study the factors which cause such violence and the consequences of violence on women and society. Violence harms sexual, reproductive, mental and physical health of women. The situation is becoming more critical because violence in many forms is not considered as a crime in Pakistan. Our judicial system is unable to solve violence issues. About 70% of women experience violence in Pakistan. The study will provide an understanding of situation and the key factors of violence. Study will help govt. to reconsider its laws and legislations relating to violence against women and make necessary amendments. Our study is combination of qualitative and quantitative techniques including both primary and secondary sources of data. The main method of data collection will be interviews, surveys, internet TV-news and news paper. Our sample will consist of 200 women victims. The estimated cost is 10000 and the time span will be one month. The project will be managed by weekly meetings and a check list to ensure the consistency and timely submission of project report.

PROBLME STATEMENT
OUR MAIN PROBLME IS VOILENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN PAKISTAN. woman are facing diverse forms of violence in Pakistan. physical torture ,mentally torture, abusive language, sexual harassment ,forced prostitution ,rape ,murder ,child marriage, forced marriage ,karo-kari ,watta-satta ,wanni ,buried alive, burnt alive, forced labor, mutilation, , are the types of violence in Pakistan. About 1000 cases of violence against women reported in past three years 2,774 murdered women, 1,578 were killed in Punjab, 751 in Sindh, 260 in NWFP and 185 in Baluchistan. Of the 1,327 murdered men, 675

were killed in Punjab, 348 in Sindh, 188 in NWFP and 116 in Baluchistan ANOTHER SURVEY SHOWED THAT FROM 2005 TO 2008 1019 women killed for for karo kari 1931 women are raped 53 women are burnt with acid 45 bunt with cooking stove 4250 maids are physically and mentally tortured As many as eight women - half of them minors - are raped in Pakistan everyday Both reported and unreported rapes indicated the number of victims to be over 10,000 a year. . 87 cases out of 201 cases were related to domestic violence followed by physical torture and abuse, dowry, financial problems and harassment. Nearly, 85% of the cases were not reported by women because of the predominant male-dominated society and illiteracy. the percentage of women who experience spousal abuse alone range from 70 to upwards of 90 percent. Women in Pakistan face staggeringly high rates of rape, sexual assault, and domestic violence while their attackers largely go unpunished owing to rampant incompetence, corruption, and biases against women throughout the criminal justice system. The crimes involved ranged from murder, honour killing, gang rape, nonregistration of FIR, non-arrest of the accused, kidnapping, abduction and domestic violence

Sub problems

Many Violence against women is not considered as a crime in Pakistan Most of the women dont get there case register and dont take any action only 0.5 of victims women get their case registered

Family of the victim think that if society come to know that any person have done wrong with their women they would be disgraced Police and court is reluctant to entertain the cases because of rich or influential accused party. Violence against women is a custom in tribes .balochistan and NWFP. Women dont take seriously this violence until the major accident happens. Violence against women is not taken seriously in Pakistan due to male dominant society.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this study is to create awareness of basic women rights witch the women are actually deprived. Through this research we shall Identify the background which contributes towards , the violence the women face in Pakistan.we shall answer the question From where actually the problem emerges? Where the roots of this problem lie? We shall study that how the societal norms ,tradition ,religious values and certain myths negatively affect the status of women in Pakistan We have to make the women aware to struggle for their identity in male dominant country We want to make the govt. aware of the violence which the women are suffering in tribal areas. We shall investigate that how are judicial system discriminate the women. Is our judicial system is providing justice to women?

We shall design the strategies to protect the women from violence. make it clear that women do not need any sympathy they just need their rights.

BENEFITS OF THE RESEARCH

Our research will help the govt. and non govt. organizations (NGOS) to understand the background of this problem and the feudal system which encourages the violence against women and exist in specially in the rural areas of Punjab and sindh and tribal system exist in balochistan and N.W.F.P. It would help to make amendments in laws relating to violence against women and would make our judicial system more sensitive towards the issues relating to violence against women. The research will help to create a balanced society and economy as the significant ratio of women who are suffering from any kind of physical and emotional violence will be prevented and will be able to actively participate in social and economic activities, The research is important for overall society as it addresses the society to peep out of its rigid customs, traditions and orthodox values. The research will help the govt. to Identify the factors of such violence. Take steps to resolve the issues of violence against women in Pakistan. Take steps to eliminate the violence and prevent women from further violence.

RESEARCH DESIGN
NATURE

The research will be descriptive in nature and will based on case studies to some extent also. INVESTIGATION The type of investigation is casual study e.g. Illiteracy, poverty, ignorance, customs are the causes as well as the affect of violence against women in Pakistan DATA COLLECTION METHOD We shall access both primary and secondary sources of data. a random sample of 200 victim women will be selected and then face to face interviews will be conducted Questionnaires will be provided to people who belong to various fields as to know their views on the phenomenon of violence against women. Surveys will be held in various NGOS and in the institution as well as the rural areas to closely observe each and every aspect of the phenomenon.

DATA ANALYSIS
The units of analysis will be the individuals and groups. The focus will be on women victims of violence in Pakistan. The collected data will be edited so that ambiguity and errors may rectify. After editing we shall code, categorize and enter the data into the computer. We shall use SPSS software for data analysis.

SCHDUALE

Time span of our study will 2 months. 10 days collecting the back ground information 15 days collecting of statistical data 10 days field work including surveys and interviews 15 days editing, coding, categorizing, and entering of data in tabulation form. 15 days analysis of data , interpreting of result, 5 days preparing the final project report.

Facilities like telephone, internet, fax, transportation are needed. we will access libraries and published journals.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The project team will consist of 7 members 2 members will be engaged in collecting data. 1 member will collect background data and history of problem. 1 member will enter the data in computer in tabulation form. 1 person will act as a coordinator to coordinate the research work. The coordinator will held weekly meetings .the work will be assure through check list.

Category scale will be used as a rating scale. And paired comparison will be used as a ranking scale.

OTHER DETAILS

HIV/aids, unintended pregnancy, abortions and adverse pregnancy out come are occurring due to rapes and sexual harassment. Increase risk of depression, eating disorders and emotional distress are occurring due to metal torture on women. Increasing headaches, back pains, abdominal pains and poor overall health is occurring due to physical torture.
