Note: Rebanding (lowering freq. by 15mhz usually) is scheduled to end for PR on March 12, 2012, unless changed. Rebanding does NOT affect PPR's Motorola 800mhz system. An FCC License check for active frequencies in PR between 866-869 mhz, will show who is affected. PR has a slightly different rebanding criteria from the states, but the difference is not much. The LTR system currently licensed to PPR throughout the island, including the Metro Area, IS affected by rebanding however, and is currently in the process of being rebanded, slowly but surely.

Narrowbanding (12.5khz equivalent or less deviation) is scheduled to begin no later than January 1, 2013 for VHF-Hi and UHF below 512mhz, except for certain paging frequencies specified in the order. Check out the term 12.5khz equivalency on the internet as it relates to narrowbanding to see what it all means. Link below. Possible tough times ahead for monitoring some frequencies. Any entity operating wideband on or after 1Jan2013, will be operating illegally and subject to a fine and/or having their license revoked, unless granted a waiver. However, a bill (HR 3430) has been introduced in the House to extend the period to complete the narrowbanding process for an additional 2 years.
