PREFACE
The beginning of training could be traced to the Stone Age when people started transferring knowledge through signs and deeds to others. Vocational training started during the industrial revolution when apprentices were provided direct instructions in the operation of machines. Training and development is increasingly recognized, now, as a most important organizational activity. Rapid technological changes require newer skills and knowledge in many areas. Training has to be continuously offered to keep employees updated and effective. Realizing all this that the training and development is one of the important instrument of human resources development as well as organizational development I opted for the topic for the dissertation report.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
No doubt this is age of tough competition and to survive in this highly competitive scenario, managers are being pressured to improve quality, increase productivity, cut down waste and eliminate inefficiency. And this is where Training & Development Centre, a component of Human Resource Management play a crucial role for overall growth of any organization. Hence T & D Centre in an organization is responsible for improvement of quality in all aspects of its employees.
One step further, it is necessary to evaluate the training programs by taking the feedback from those employees who have attended the programs and this area is covered by T & D Centre also.
This project report is the outcome of my study with the help of my guide on topic A study on the effectiveness of training and development programs at Dabur India Limited. The outcome of the project shows where different plants/divisions in Dabur stand regarding overall skills improvement and improvement in employees in respective skills in which they had attended the training programs. Here 360 degree feedback has been used to assess employees improvement in respective skills. For this training effective index has been calculated to express quality in absolute term for employees and for different divisions also
Dabur is one of the biggest profit making comp. and largest producer of primary Al in India around 1300 workers are working in the organization. Realizing the importance of the training due the upcoming technology and globalization, the company has separate T & D Centre.
Human Resource Management is the backbone of any organization. For quality improvement in work force T & D Centre created behavior related programme for employees. Company provides basically three category of training: 1. 2. 3. Behavioral training Supportive training Technical training
Under behavioral and managerial training further three types of programmes are made as per need of employees: Competency building & MDP. Supervisory development programme Workers development programme.
Employees are evaluated under following skills after training through questionnaire, formal talk and observation. Questionnaire is based on likert scale (5 rating scale). Here survey is conducted at managerial level. Listening and communication skills.
Perfecting presentation skills. Problem solving skills. Relationship skills for managers.
I have made this project as effective as possible and I believe its outcome will be fruitful for company and readers also.
