Topic: Fifth English Panel Meeting 2011 Agendas 1. Welcoming speech from Chairperson

a) The meeting started with Al-Fatihah. b) The Chairperson thanked everyone for coming to the meeting. c) The Chairperson explains on the important agenda today which is Mid-Year exam postmortem. Action by: Cik Nadia 2. Speech by The Headmaster

a) En. Mohd Haslam thanked the teachers for coming to the meeting and congratulated the English panels for organizing the meeting smoothly. b) He said that there was a decrease in the result of End of Year Examination. He was worried about the situation. c) He stressed on Year 4 result which decreased without any reason. He wanted the English teachers to work on this matter. Action by: All English teachers 3. Presentation and verification of previous meeting

a) Encik Adlan as the secretary reads the information on the previous meeting to be verified by others. b) Encik Zawawi suggested that the previous meetings details should be verified. The suggestion was agreed by En Shuhaimi Action by: All English teachers

Issues which need to be discussed

There was issue regarding the extra classes for Year 4 & 5 students to be held during the school holiday. The Headmaster agreed the extra classes to be held on 20-21st of November 2011. 5. Year 1 Pupils spend most of their time at home. Pupils tend to forget their lesson. So, parents can help by recalling and supervising them in doing their homework. Parents should sit together with pupils while they are doing their homework. Year 2 Authentic activities attract pupils in learning and memorizing the input. In this age, fun activities should be one of the crucial agenda in learning. Pupils will be taken outside their classroom or doing practical activities once a week so that they realize about the fun part of English. Year 3 The pupils seem very slow in their progress. The teacher has to repeat the same input 4 to 5 times. It will be a waste in time and energy. The teacher still searching for the best method to attract pupils and make them remember the input given. Year 4 Pupils have difficulties in remembering the input given. More principles need to be taught because they are still in transition time. Moreover, teacher needs to give more attention towards the teacher as they are more playful and a bit lazier. Year 5 The teacher needs to focus on grammar because the pupils have difficulties in writing skills. The sentences wrote were full of grammatical errors. Year 6 The students may think that this exam is not important as they have gone through UPSR previously. They tend to be lazier and have lost their focus as they think that it is now their honeymoon. 6. Others The chairperson hoped that all the problems can be managed wisely and all the teachers will give their full cooperation and support in implementing the fun English learning.

Adjourn speech 7.1 Cik Nadia thanked everyone for their presence in the meeting. She hoped that the English teachers will take actions on the problems arouse. The meeting ended with the recitation of Surah Al-Asr. Meeting adjourned at 2.00 pm.
