Featuring Multi-Tread (MT) compound technology, the highperformance Sportmax Qualier II is designed with real riders needs in mind. The Qualier II supersport tyre delivers non-stop road feedback, razor-sharp handling accuracy and a high degree of wet road grip. The new-for-2010 Moto2 World Championship set signicant technical challenges for Dunlop engineers who were tasked with designing control tyres for the series. The requirement was not only to harness the Moto2 bikes power characteristics in fourteen variations of the exacting prototype chassis, but also to deliver track-specic solutions across a wide spectrum of layouts, surfaces and temperatures. Fifty years of continuous experience in Grand Prix racing expertise gave us the answers, and Moto2s 40-strong grids appreciated the season-long consistency of their Dunlops. The 2010 qualifying sessions were incredibly close, the top 20 riders often being separated by less than a second. The tyres predictability and stability was even more noticeable under race conditions, with most riders achieving their fastest lap times in the nal three laps or even on the very last lap. Crowds of up to 150,000 revelled in the competitiveness of Moto2 right up to the nal race at Valencia in November, fully vindicating the Grand Prix Commissions unanimous selection of Dunlop as sole tyre supplier for the 2010 season and for at least two more.

MULTI-TREAD (MT) TECHNOLOGY


Multi-Tread (MT) Technology is one of our latest innovations. Years of success in global Superbike, Endurance and GP champion-ships have resulted in the development of a pioneering multi-compound, which is transferred to many of our current Sportmax track and road products. The central traction compound contacts the road when the motorcycle is upright. It uses a tougher, coolerrunning compound that maintains straight-line stability, traction, braking and longer tread life. The lateral compound contacts the road when the motorcycle is leaned over. It incorporates a rubber compound, which is developed specically to enhance grip at maximum lean angles.

All our Sportmax street tyres are designed using a combination of Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as well as JointLess Belt (JLB) construction (either front or rear). The use of JLB construction eliminates the belt overlaps that can be found in some tyres, resulting in smoother handling. This type of construction also minimises dynamic growth of the tread centre at high speeds, maintains a stable contact patch and reduces distortion and excessive heat build-up.
