Application Letter
A letter of application is a document sent with your resume to provide additional information on your skills and experience. A letter of application typically provides detailed information on why are you are qualified for the job you are applying for. Effective application letters explain the reasons for your interest in the specific organization and identify your most relevant skills or experiences. Your application letter should let the employer know what position you are applying for, why the employer should select you for an interview, and how you will follow-up.

When writing an application letter you should include: First Paragraph: Why you are writing - mention the job you are applying for and where you found the listing. Middle Paragraph(s): What you have to offer the employer - mention why your skills and experience are a good fit for the job. Last Paragraph: Say thank you to the hiring manager for considering you and note how you will follow up.

Resume
Resume is a document used by individuals to present their background and skillsets. Rsums can be used for a variety of reasons but most often to secure new employment. A typical rsum contains a summary of relevant job experience and education. The rsum is usually one of the first items, along with a cover letter and sometimes job application packet, that a potential employer encounters regarding the job seeker and is typically used to screen applicants, often followed by an interview, when seeking employment. The rsum is comparable to a curriculum vitae (CV) in many countries, although in English Canada and the United States rsum is substantially shorter than CV. In many contexts, a rsum is short (usually one to three pages), and directs a reader's attention to the aspects of a person's background that are directly relevant to a particular position. Many rsums contain keywords that potential employers are looking for, make heavy use of active verbs, and display content in a flattering manner. Since increasing numbers of job seekers and employers are using Internet-based job search engines to find and fill employment positions, longer rsums are needed for applicants to differentiate and distinguish themselves, and employers are becoming more accepting of rsums that are longer than two pages[dubious discuss]. Many professional rsum writers and human resources professionals believe that a rsum should be long enough so that it provides a concise, adequate, and accurate description of an applicant's employment history and skills[citation needed]. A rsum is a marketing tool in which the content should be adapted to suit each individual job application and/or applications aimed at a particular industry. The transmission of rsums directly to employers became increasingly popular as late as 2002[citation needed]. Jobseekers were able to circumvent the job application process and reach employers through direct email contact and rsum blasting, a term meaning the mass distribution of rsums to increase personal visibility within the job market. However the mass distribution of rsums to employers can often have a negative effect on the applicant's chances of securing employment as the rsums tend not to be tailored for the specific positions the applicant is applying for. It is usually therefore more sensible to adjust the rsum for each position applied for. The complexity and simplicity of various rsum formats tend to produce results varying from person to person, for the occupation, and to the industry. It is important to note that rsums or CV's used by medical professionals, professors, artists and people in other specialized fields may be comparatively longer. For example, an artist's rsum, typically excluding any non-artrelated employment, may include extensive lists of solo and group exhibitions.

Chronological Resume
This type of resume is the most commonly used and outlines your past work experience. It is most effective when your work experience relates directly to the job description. Work experience is listed in reverse chronological order accompanied by a brief description of the duties performed in each position. This resume type is most frequently used by individuals with several years of experience in a single career field. It organizes your experience around the jobs you have held. This format is an excellent choice for people with steady work histories or previous jobs that relate closely to their career objective. To create a chronological resume, list each position you have held, starting with the most recent and working backward. For each position, give the title of your job, name of the organization you worked for, and years you worked there. Next, relate the duties and accomplishments of that job. When describing your jobs, use action statements, not sentences. Instead of writing "I managed a fundraising campaign," write, "Managed a fundraising campaign." Use strong verbs to begin each statement. Be specific, but not overly detailed, in describing what you did. Employers say three to five statements are usually sufficient for each job. And no job should have more than four consecutive lines of information under it; large blocks of text are difficult to read. Your most important positions should occupy the most space on your resume. If you've had jobs that do not relate to the position you want, consider dividing your experience into two categories: Relevant experience and other experience. Describe the relevant jobs thoroughly, and briefly mention the others. If you have had many jobs, you probably do not need to mention the oldest or least important ones. Just be careful not to create damaging gaps in your work history.

Memo
A memo is a document typically used for communication within a company. Memos can be as formal as a business letter and used to present a report.

However, the heading and overall tone make a memo different from a business letter. Because you generally send memos to co-workers and colleagues, you do not have to include a formal salutation or closing remark.

It is a short message or record used for internal communication in a business.

Once the primary form of internal written communication, memorandums (or memos) have declined in use since the introduction of email and other forms of electronic messaging.

Memo is: A form of written internal communication utilized in businesses and other office environments. A summary of the terms of an agreement (typically one to be drafted later). A legal brief, typically on a motion or other issue arising at the trial level.

Minutes
Minutes is the written record of meetings, particularly of Boards of Directors and/or Shareholders of corporations, kept by the secretary of the corporation or organization. It is the record of courtroom proceedings, such as the start and recess of hearings and trials, names of attorneys, witnesses, and rulings of the court, kept by the clerk of the court or the judge. Such court minutes are not a transcript of everything that is said, which is taken down by the court reporter if recorded at all. It is usually important for the minutes to be terse and only include a summary of discussion and decisions. A verbatim report is typically not useful. The minutes of certain groups, such as a corporate board of directors, must be kept on file and are important legal documents. The Main Parts of Meeting Minutes Many organizations use a standard template or a special format for keeping minutes, and the order of the parts may vary. Heading The name of the committee (or other unit) and the date, location, and starting time of the meeting. Participants The name of the person conducting the meeting along with the names of all those who attended the meeting (including guests) and those who were excused from attending. Approval of previous minutes A note on whether the minutes of the previous meeting were approved and whether any corrections were made. Action items (including unfinished business from the previous meeting) A report on each topic discussed at the meeting. (For each item, note the subject of the discussion, the name of the person who led the discussion, and any decisions that may have been reached.) Announcements A report on any announcements made by participants, including proposed agenda items for the next meeting. Next Meeting A note on where and when the next meeting will be held. Adjournment A note on the time the meeting ended. Signature line The name of the person who prepared the minutes and the date they were submitted.

The three types of Minutes are: Action Minutes Meeting Verbatim Minutes Meeting Detailed Minutes Meeting

Business Letter
Business letters are formal letters used for business-to-business, business-to-client, or client-to-business correspondence. There are a number of elements to a business letter A business letter is a formal communication from an organisation to it's customers, the general public for their information, another Company or the Authorities. It is often written in a standard format, and in formal language, compared to a private letter between two people who are well known to each other. The business letter will show things like the address and best way to communicate with the business - by return letter , e-mail or telephone. In general, the letter will be directed to a specific person and be about one topic. Sometimes, the business letter will be looking for a response, but might be to give important information about a up-coming change of address or telephone number. The letter might give information about new developments - a new website; launch of a new product. To allow the sender to handle any response more efficiently, the business letter might contain key information such as an internal reference from the sender or related to the product in question.

Business Proposal
A business proposal is a written document sent to a prospective client in order to obtain a specific job. Proposals may be solicited or unsolicited. A client may simply request a proposal on a project in the course of a sales call by saying: "You know, that sounds interesting. Why don't you send me a proposal on that." In other cases the proposal may be a formal solicitation, usually called an RFP (request for proposal). RFPs are almost always documents, too. They specify the product or service to be provided, the qualifications sought, and the deadline for submission. Solicited proposals, obviously, mean that the client has already decided to make a purchase. Only the selection of a vendor remains to be done. An unsolicited proposal, by contrast, is often a sales presentation dressed in another cloakbut the proposal is specifically aimed at a welldefined and limited activity. An example of an unsolicited proposal is the submission of the outline of a book to a publisher arguing the popularity of the subject, the novelty of the approach, and the merits of the author.

Business proposals must be distinguished from estimates. In many fields where small business is active, estimates serve the same purpose as a proposal. They are the document that clinches the sale of a roofing or a paving job or a monthly house-cleaning service. But where estimates are used, the qualifications of the seller and his or her method of accomplishing the job are also established, but by other meanstypically by an interview or sales call.
