Time Period Covered Date From: 03/11/12 To: 03/17/12 Summary of Incidents: Date Day Time Details: Suspicious Person/Activity Officers contacted a man who had been seen running back and forth between a parked vehicle and the Harbor View Bar, and found that he was searching for the vehicle owner, a friend, with whom he hoped to get a ride. The friend could not be located and officers provided courtesy transport. Trespass Officer issued a trespass advisement, per Unisea Security, to a besotted woman who had made herself most unwelcome at the Unisea facilities. Domestic Disturbance A womans screaming at her boyfriend about his having to leave on a fishing boat so soon after she arrived prompted a visit to the couple by police. Having once determined that no crime had been committed, officers suggested the couple attempt to be more restrained with their arguing. Lost Property Black, tri-fold wallet, perhaps at Alaska Ship Supply. Traffic Crime Complaint about a parked vehicle blocking a fire hydrant. The owner was advised to move the vehicle immediately. Animal Loose dog impounded. Public Safety Category 1 travel advisory issued due to snow accumulation and intermittent whiteout conditions. Suspicious Person/Activity Officer investigated a report that a possibly intoxicated captain was piloting his vessel in the harbor. The captain was found to be sober, and was most irate that a complaint had been made. Traffic Crime Officer issued a verbal warning to a driver who had exited a parking area without first stopping. houseguest had been disrespectful of others in the residence, and determined there was no need for police intervention. Drunk Disturbance Officers responded to a bunkhouse wherein a group of noisy, drunken men were helping a noisy, drunken and obnoxious coworker to his room. Officers suggested the inebriates take their revelry to a location where it would be less offensive to others. Traffic Roads Public Works notified of road conditions. Drug Law Violation A local business received a package which upon being opened was found to contain illegal drugs. Further investigation indicated the drugs were intended for an employee no longer living in this community. Under investigation. Traffic Roads Complaint about road conditions passed on to Public Works. Assist Other Agency Police assisted Kenai Probation Officer with a number of compliance checks on local probationers. Animal Loose dog. Probation Violation Tyson Rosa, 22 yoa, was remanded to custody when a compliance check revealed he had violated his conditions of probation. Suspicious Person/Activity Library employees reported a patron had been staring at them for quite some time, making them uncomfortable. An officer spoke to the man in question about his behavior. Traffic Roads Complaint about road conditions passed on to Public Works. Public Safety Category 1 travel advisory issued due to heavy snowfall and decreased visibility. Assistance Rendered Officers assisted a driver who, after obtaining fuel for his empty gas tank, found that his vehicle would no longer start. 03/14/12 03/14/12 03/14/12 Wed Wed Wed 0808 1323 1347 Public Safety Category 1 travel advisory continued due to slick roads and heavy snowfall. Ambulance Request EMS personnel provided care and transport to a patient with an arm injury. Assistance Rendered Officer assisted EMS personnel. Assist Other Agency - Police assisted Kenai Probation Officer with a number of compliance checks on local probationers. Assistance Rendered Officers responding to a report that a vehicle had been abandoned in the middle of a roadway found that the vehicles inebriated passenger had taken off his seatbelt, opened the door and fallen out of the vehicle. PC Alcohol A drunk who had made some very poor decisions about how best to exit a vehicle was taken into protective custody. Medevac Traffic Crime Complaint about an aggressive driver gesturing in an insulting fashion. Noise Disturbance An officer investigating a noise complaint heard loud music and joyful screaming as he approached the suspect residence. The participants of the karaoke party agreed to reduce the volume of both their instrumental and vocal music. Probation Violation Wesley D. Sandel, 26 yoa, was remanded to custody when a compliance check revealed he had violated his conditions of probation. Traffic Crime Citations issued to illegally parked vehicles at the airport. Welfare Check An officer contacted an inebriated pedestrian following a complaint from a concerned citizen, and found that the man was indeed intoxicated. The inebriate was advised to walk on the side rather than the middle of the road as he toddled home. Assist Other Agency A fisherman reported he had been assaulted by a coworker several days earlier, while at sea. An officer took the initial report and forwarded the information to Alaska State Troopers for

Welfare Check A fisheries observer was reported missing after she failed to return to her vessel as scheduled. Officers spent several hours looking for the woman, only to find that her vessel had left port with her already on board. Assistance Rendered Officer provided traffic control while a blown-out tire was replaced on a school bus. Public Safety Category 1 travel advisory issued due to icy roads and limited visibility caused by blowing snow. Animal Loose dog. Domestic Disturbance Mother reported her adult daughter had been verbally abusive to her, after the two argued about the daughters failure to contribute to general housekeeping chores. Officers were unable to locate the daughter, who had been asked to leave the residence. Traffic Roads - Information about road conditions passed on to Public Works. Public Safety - Category 1 travel advisory continued due to icy roads and limited visibility caused by blowing snow. MVA Damage Driver asked that an accident, which had occurred the previous day, be documented for insurance purposes. Animal Pet owner asked for assistance putting down a sick, elderly dog. Domestic Disturbance A drunk berated and insulted his brother to such a degree that the brother phoned police and asked for assistance getting the drunk out of the house. MVA Damage Police solved an apparent hit-and-run when, upon inspecting what appeared to be damage, they found that the transfer paint was in fact simply something of indeterminate organic origin. was most relieved by the discovery. 03/16/12 Fri 1317 Warrant Arrest Flynn D. Szady, 36 yoa, turned himself in on an outstanding bench warrant. Traffic Roads Traffic cones were placed in axledeep potholes on Haystack Drive, so that motorists could safely maneuver on the unplowed roadway. Medevac Assistance Rendered Caller phoned 911 and asked for officers to come to the Library to notarize his signature on an official document. After his request was politely declined, he began to berate the library staff, who also phoned police and asked for assistance. An officer responded and told the man that if he was nice, perhaps a notary at the police department could assist him. Trespass An unreasonable man who had created a disturbance at the library was issued a trespass advisement for all City recreational facilities. MVA Damage A driver whose vehicle could not quite make it up an icy incline slid backwards down the hill and into another vehicle and driver. No injuries were reported. Public Safety Category 1 travel advisory issued due to snow- and ice-covered roadways and intermittent whiteout conditions. Animal Loose dog, impounded and later picked up by owner. Assistance Rendered Officer mediated a dispute between two employees, one of whom alleged that the other had exposed himself to her when he unfastened his pants to tuck in his shirt. The officer found no evidence of intentional wrong-doing. Public Safety Category 1 travel advisory continued due to unrelenting snow, ice and intermittent whiteout conditions. roadway, and found that its location did not inhibit twoway traffic on the roadway. 03/17/12 Sat 1224 Lost Property A wallet, perhaps at Westward Seafoods, with Washington DL and other pertinent cards and documents. Assistance Rendered Officer mediated a dispute between two men, one of whom had agreed to unlock the others cell phone but had then lost the phone on a fishing vessel. Welfare Check Officer responded to the clinic to wait with a patient until he was safely inside the facility. Assistance Rendered A man who realized he has a significant alcohol problem asked for information regarding both AA meetings and alternative housing, as the atmosphere at his current abode is hardly beneficial for one who wishes to stop drinking. Welfare Check 911 call received from airport pay phones. An officer responded and found several children playing in the area. Parents were notified of the potential problem. Taxi Violation Officer advised a taxi driver to take her vehicle out of service until both brake lights were again operational. Assault Two women, one of whom couldnt help but make snide and insulting remarks to the other, were the subjects of a disturbance in the Grand Aleutian Hotel lobby. The women both told the responding officer that this was to be their last confrontation.
