46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you. 48 He replied to him, Who is my mother, and who are my brothers? 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
Matthew 12:46-50

2 Surely you have heard about the administration of Gods grace that was given to me for you, 3 that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briey. 4 In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to Gods holy apostles and prophets. 6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 3:2-6

The Gospel

1. Jesus leaves the mission 2. Jesus Selects Paul to bring the gospel to the Gentiles 3. Paul reveals details of the new creation community

14 For he himself [Jesus] is our peace, who has made the two groups [Jews and Gentiles] one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his esh the law with its commands and regulations.
Ephesians 2:14-15

26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:26

4 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.
Galatians 4:4-5

4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
Ephesians 1:4-6

Galatians 3:26

6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, Abba, Father. 7 So you are no longer a slave, but Gods child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

As a new family we nurture our relationships by spending time together and caring for each other through prayer, encouragement, and meeting practical needs. We protect our relationships with each other by biblically resolving interpersonal conicts through humility, grace, and forgiveness (John 1:12-13; 1 Timothy 5:1-2; Matthew 18:15-19). SoWhat?
Spend time this week meditating on the fact that God invites us to know Him as a Father. 1. Thank Him for adopting you through the work of Christ. Thanks Him for being perfect. 2. Spend some time working through the Truth About Our Heavenly Father resource. It may be good to let a brother or sister know you are going to do that so they can pray for you.

SowWhat?
Answer the assessment questions and prayerfully consider ways you can start making personal choices that will help Renew truly be an extended family.
