Sounds of the KEYS

Monthly Newsletter of St. Peter School

March 2012

From the Principal

Dear friends, As we have reached the mid-point of this Holy Season of Lent, we have also begun the fourth quarter of our school year. Its difficult to believe that the time has passed so quickly. In the midst of the many successful school events and fun activities for our students, Ive had the joy once again of witnessing the minds and hearts of the young ones entrusted to our care being educated and growing in knowledge while at the same time being shaped and formed by the Gospel. This mission has not been without its challenges, but the Lord has once again proved faithful in supplying His grace and providing for all our needs. As we look forward to 2012-2013 at this point, one of our primary needs is an increase in enrollment. In order for us to continue to succeed, we need more students. Registration is currently open. Please encourage families, as you are able, and most importantly make the increase of the SPS enrollment an intention of your prayer and sacrifice. Thank you for the generous support continually given to our school in so many different ways! Please keep us in your prayers as we keep you in ours so that together, we may work towards continuing to provide the Catholic education our children in Gueydan so richly deserve. May the Lord bring the good work of our hands that He accomplished to fulfillment!
In Christ the Lord, Fr. Vidrine

Embracing the KEYS to success: Faith, Knowledge, and Unity SPS STUDENTS CONTRIBUTE TO LIFE!!

St. Peter Church and School recently contributed $4,267.91 to the Baby Bottle Campaign, with SPS contributing over $2,500 of that total. The money was raised by the students during the penny wars competition among classes for Catholic Schools Week. It was sent to the Womens Center in Lafayette, which includes the pregnancy resource center, St. Marguerite dYouville Home, and Baby & Me Boutique. The money raised enables them to help young women who daily call seeking assistance. They provide each client with the information and resources she needs to make one of the most important decisions of her life. Approximately 90% will choose life.

Living W ay of the Cross

The SPS family is invited to join us for the Living Way of the Cross on Friday, March 30 at 10:00am in the church.

On Friday, March 2, 2012, SPS join thousands around our nation in observing Dr. Seuss birthday by taking part of the Read Across America! Students enjoyed recalling both their favorite Dr. Seuss characters and their favorite Dr. Seuss books. As he himself reminds us: Youre never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child. Pictured is Gueydan Library Director Angela Touchet reading to SPS little ones.
