Major of School Psychology (As of April 1, 2008) Outline of the Major Teaching and thesis advising in the Major

of School Psychology is conducted by academic staff members drawn from the School Psychology Department, the Center for the Research and Support of Educational Practice, and the Student Health and Counseling Center. The major consists of two departments: School Psychology and Clinical Psychology. Each student receives research supervision and extracurricular guidance from a principal supervisor in their department, who is chosen in accordance with the students own field of specialization. Students take subjects from among those offered in the departments to which they are attached. It is also possible to take subjects from different departments and majors if necessary for research purposes (and subject to restrictions for some subjects). Students must seek guidance from their principal supervisors when registering for subjects. Profile of the School Psychology Department The Department in School Psychology comprises specialist fields including teaching, learning, cognition, society, interpersonal relationships, groups, personality, and educational assessment. Profile of the Clinical Psychology Department Specialist fields addressed in the Clinical Psychology Department include clinical pedagogy, counselling, clinical lifespan studies, clinical disability studies, and developmental psychology. [Clinical Psychologist Certification] Since 2000, the Clinical Psychology Department has held Type 2 Graduate School designation under the Clinical Psychologist Graduate School Designation System. Students completing the Masters Department (in the Clinical Psychology Department only) can gain eligibility to sit the examination for certification as a clinical psychologist. Please note that training required for eligibility is held in the daytime (class periods between the hours of 8:50 a.m. and 5:40 p.m.): students who cannot take daytime classes will not be able to obtain eligibility.
